Entities on The Stairwell
Good to know about The Stairwell
- About 100 flights after the Oct 5, 2026 patch; the page says 102 looping rooms (previously 199).
- Entities in the wiki's list: Creak, Noise, Stem, Meld, Cobbler and Hijack. Hazards: Fire Sprinkler and Crusher.
- It was a 'secret' subfloor reachable only from The Mines until Oct 2, 2026; that day it became accessible to everyone.
- At the end of the route is the Cobbler's Shop: Scrap is exchanged for gold.
- Lobby route: no documented requirement.

The Stairwell guide
The Stairwell can be entered two ways, and guides written at different moments describe different versions. It is a subfloor added on August 28, 2026 with The Archives Update, and it sits under The Mines, not The Hotel.
How you get in
The route documented since the first day is Door 152 of The Mines, listed in the Guaranteed Rooms table as the Stairwell Entrance. Inside is a manhole cover, and opening it requires a Skeleton Key. Calling it Door 152 of The Hotel is a frequent mistake: The Hotel ends at Door 100.
The second route is from the Lobby, documented since October 2, 2026. The update log for that date says the subfloor was made accessible to all, and the Access Granted page says it can be reached through the lobby, though that page is flagged as conjecture. No requirement for this route is documented, and there is no in-game confirmation. Before the patch the wiki called it a secret floor reached only from The Mines.
What is inside
The wiki text names six entities: Creak, Noise, Stem, Meld, Cobbler and Hijack. The infoboxes count seven unique ones once the Cobbler Silhouette is added, plus the Fire Sprinkler and Crusher hazards. After the October 5, 2026 patch the climb is about 100 flights, with landings one per 5 to 15 flights. At the end, Cobbler trades scrap for gold: 1 scrap for 10 gold.
Who belongs to the floor
Creak is a shy stalker: it creeps closer while you are not looking and backs off when you watch it, but getting behind it, for example by going down the stairs, is instant death, and a Fire Sprinkler stuns it. Noise follows the route you took at a constant speed and pauses when you stop; touching it kills, and rolling its television down a set of stairs destroys it. Stem hits for 5 per rolling hit and needs to be dropped or thrown four times to break. Meld blocks landings and burns under the fire alarm, and Crushers cannot appear on Meld landings. Hijack, born when disc CD-1 from The Archives goes into the television, merges Noise with Ransom, moves much faster and keeps going when you stand still.
Why guides disagree
The wiki count moved over time: no entities at creation on August 29, 2026, four later that day, six by early September. The flight count moved too, from 199 before the October 5 patch to the current 100. A guide that gives other numbers is most likely describing an older version, so check its date first.
Frequently asked questions
Which entities appear on The Stairwell?
Charles, Curious Light, Cobbler, Creak, Hijack, Meld, Noise and Stem.
How do you reach The Stairwell?
Two routes according to the wiki. (1) The Mines, door 152 (Stairwell Entrance): a manhole cover that requires a Skeleton Key (documented since Aug 28, 2026). (2) From the Lobby (since Oct 2, 2026, Update Logs 2026 and Access Granted Update): no documented requirement and no in-game confirmation. Door 152 is not in the Hotel: The Hotel ends at door 100.
