SCJVEREECH

SCJVEREECH does not come alone. When a Glitch Fragment is used, there is a 1 in 3 chance this glitched Screech spawns, and it arrives in a group of around 20. Each one looks like a normal Screech but with black eyes, glitch effects all around and an exposed tongue that shifts between pink, gray, purple and sometimes blue. The letters JVE in its name belong to the hidden Base64 string that spells GLITCH.

How the attack works

Like Screech, it makes a glitched "psst" and bites anyone who is slow to look at it, here for 44 damage per bite. Looking at one in time makes it retreat screaming. If one stays on you for a few seconds, its eyes start glowing purple, which warns you that it is about to attack. It has no page of its own and is part of the Glitch Fragment entry; it was added on December 20, 2024.

What changes versus Screech

Hiding in a closet does not despawn them, so you have to look at every one of them to get rid of them. The upside is that inside a closet they deal no damage, so you can keep entering closets until you have looked at them all or they have all bitten and left. With no hiding spot, look first at the ones with glowing purple eyes. It is the only glitched entity that cannot be crucified. Surviving grants the Trial and Error achievement.
