How to survive Snare
- Carry a light source in The Greenhouse, where Snares are hard to see.
- Check the ground ahead; lightning can briefly light the room and help locate Snares.
- Eyes or Guiding Light can also light up the room to help you spot Snares.
- Items cannot be equipped while trapped, which is lethal if Rush or Screech arrives.

Where Snare appears
Snare guide
Snare looks like a harmless circle of dirt until you step on it. It is a greenish-brown grassy entity whose holes hide retractable white spikes; they shoot into your foot, deal 20 damage and hold you in place for a few seconds. That is non-lethal on its own, but being stuck stops you from moving or using items, which is the real danger.
Where it lives
In The Hotel a Snare room is mostly The Greenhouse, where each room holds 1 to 3 of them, and since The Mines Update they can also appear in The Courtyard at the entrance or inside its basement. In The Outdoors they can appear in almost any room except The Hedge Maze. There they can pin you long enough for the Groundskeeper, Surge, Eyestalk or Monument to finish the job; the ones during Eyestalk's chase hold for a shorter time.
Playing around it
The Greenhouse has few reliable lights, so carry a light source and check the ground ahead. Lightning briefly lights the room, and Eyes or Guiding Light can reveal Snares in the dark. Any equipped item is unequipped while you are trapped and is not re-equipped afterward, which is lethal if Rush arrives or Screech spawns. If you cannot reach a hiding spot, the Crucifix is your last option against Rush. The wiki states that Snare is part of the World Lotus.
