NVCS-3000 guide

The NVCS-3000 was a scanner that players left in the Rift as a trophy, and it no longer exists in the game. It was once placed in The Rooms, in room A-1000 on the bridge, until The Mines update removed it and swapped in the Starlight Jug. Players who had one stored in their Rift received a Starlight Barrel in its place. The wiki's page is titled Object Scanner and describes it as Scanner (OLD).

What it did

It gave night vision and X-ray vision, marking Keys, Levers, Books in the Library and parts of the Electrical Panel with a five-pointed star, and nothing beyond what progression needs. It was not a light source, its battery was unlimited, and its screen always showed 30 FPS in the top-right corner. The Admin Panel could not hand it out.

A joke item

The developers added it as a joke, believing nobody would reach it. In the 2023 April Fools Event, the Pre-Run Shop offered it for 1,000 Knobs in SUPER HARD MODE!!!, but clicking it showed April Fools and then a long ladder of messages that runs past 1,000 clicks. Jeff's Shop sold the real item for 1,000 Gold, but without a Rift at the end the player could not keep it.

Afterward

The Access Granted update rebuilt it as today's Scanner, and an NVCS-3000 item skin exists.
