Ancestral Pliosaur guide
Four filters must align before the Ancestral Pliosaur takes your Shark Head: Collapsed Ruins, Night, Foggy weather and Winter. That is a strict list for a Secret, Hunt-tagged fish, and a reason to prepare in advance rather than hope.
The weights stand out even among giants. An average pliosaur weighs 175,000 kg, with a range from 60,000 up to 1,863,750 kg, and the max ranks 13th of 663. The price per kilo is only C$0.26, but at that scale the average sale is C$45,500, 35th of 742 by average value. Base XP is 56,000.
Those are top-tier results for a Secret catch, and because the max weight places it so high, a lucky heavy specimen is worth far more than the average. No other fish of the same rarity is listed in the zone, and no rod is documented there, so you need to bring your own gear.
The wiki describes a monstrous marine reptile from the age of dinosaurs, with a skull larger than a man.
Verdict: a serious late-game project. Keep Shark Heads on hand and wait for a foggy winter night. When it works, the payout and 56,000 XP both justify the wait.
