Pyrite Pufferfish guide
Autumn nights at Volcanic Vents are when the Pyrite Pufferfish bites. This Rare fish lives in the First Sea, takes Shrimp as bait, and works in any weather, so the only real constraints are the Night hour and the Autumn season. Its body has a flaming sheen and hardens when threatened, according to its in-game description.
The numbers are modest. It weighs between 8 kg and 47.5 kg, averaging 14.9 kg, and sells at C$58 per kg, which works out to about C$864 for an average fish. It pays 250 base XP. By average value it ranks 340th of the 742 documented fish, and by maximum weight 329th of 663, so it sits right in the middle of the table on both counts.
Volcanic Rod is sold in the same zone, so you can buy the matching equipment on the spot and fish it right there. If you are already working Volcanic Vents in Autumn, keep a few Shrimp in the bag and take it as a decent side catch. As a dedicated target it is hard to justify, because the payout is average and the window is narrow.
