Whisper Eel

Whisper Eel is Extinct, and its entry marks it as unobtainable, so it cannot be caught any more. It lived at Isle of New Beginnings and needed a Golden Worm, Windy weather and Spring, with any time of day.

Its numbers were substantial. It weighed 600 kg to 3,150 kg, averaging 1,050 kg, and at C$3.311 per kg an average catch sold for C$3,477. That ranks 211th of 742 documented fish by value, and its maximum weight ranks 123rd of 663. It gave 2,365 base XP, a big amount of experience for the era in which it could be fished.

Phantom Koi is the one other Extinct fish listed in the same zone, so the island's record of lost fish is short. The game describes a light blue eel with translucent accents, whose whispers echo through the currents.

Both rankings put it in the upper third of the documented fish, so this was not a throwaway catch.

Verdict: purely a reference entry now. If you are comparing records or deciding what to collect, remember it as a retired catch with a high payout. There is nothing to prepare for, and no bait or season will bring it back.
