Trident Rod review

Trident Rod is sold in Desolate Deep for C$150,000 and is built around one effect: all fish have a 30% chance to be atlantean. Its description adds that it was the King of the Sea's way of defending his kingdom, and that it can stab a fish while you catch it, briefly stunning it and boosting progress.

The stats are modest. Luck of 150 is 70th of 184 obtainable rods, Control of 0.05 is 112th of 185, and Lure Speed of 35 is 152nd of 184, so bites are slow. Resilience of 0 is 161st, and the weight limit of 6,000 kg is 74th of 117.

That makes the passive the whole value proposition. Three cheaper rods beat it on Luck: Cinder Block Rod (luck 300, C$50,000), Cupid's Embrace (luck 214, C$15,000) and Lucky Rod (luck 177, C$4,500). If you only want Luck, they are better buys.

Trident Rod makes sense for players who want the atlantean mutation chance on everything they land and are willing to wait for bites. The stun-and-progress effect softens the fight, which helps with the low Resilience. Reinforced Rod is the other rod sold in Desolate Deep if you would rather compare before spending.
