The Cooking Event arrived as part of Update 1.17.0, running from August 2 to August 16, 2025. It stands out from most limited events because what it introduced did not vanish when the event ended. The cooking mechanic graduated into a permanent feature via the Cooking Kit, meaning the recipes and food crafting you learned during these two weeks became a lasting part of your garden toolkit rather than a temporary novelty.

The other huge addition shipped alongside it was Trading, one of the most consequential systems in the game's history. Suddenly players could swap pets, seeds, and gear directly, which reshaped the entire economy and gave rare items real player-to-player value. That single change arguably mattered more long-term than any cosmetic reward the event offered.

Strategically, this was less about hoarding limited drops and more about learning the new systems early. The smart play was to experiment with the Cooking Kit recipes while the event spotlighted them, and to start trading immediately to understand fair values before the market settled.
