Cooking — In-Depth Analysis
Cooking is a Standard Weather event that buffs the kitchen rather than the soil, and its effects stack neatly for anyone running the Cooking Kit. While active it grants a doubled cooking-time chance, a chance to roll the Aromatic mutation on a random crop, and increased odds that finished food carries over the crop mutations of its ingredients. That mutation carry-over is the headline: it lets a dish inherit the value-boosting traits of the produce you cook with.
Historically this arrived in Update 1.17.0, live August 2 to August 16, 2025, after which the cooking mechanic stayed permanent via the Cooking Kit and Trading was introduced in the same patch.
To capitalize, only cook with already-mutated, high-quality crops while the weather is up, so the carry-over chance lands those mutations into finished dishes that sell for far more than raw produce. Save your best gold or rainbow ingredients for these windows instead of selling them raw, and chase the Aromatic roll on filler crops to upgrade otherwise ordinary stock. Treat Cooking weather as a value-multiplier on your pantry, not your plots.
