Basic Sprinkler

The Basic Sprinkler is a rare Gear Shop item costing 25,000 Sheckles, and it is the first sprinkler most farmers can realistically afford. Place it and every plant in its radius grows faster and produces larger crops — concretely a 1.25× size multiplier (adding +0.25 when it stacks with other sprinkler types). There is also a small chance to roll the Wet mutation, and the whole effect lasts only 5 minutes before it disappears.

For an active farm, the math is straightforward: bigger crops sell for more, and the 1.25× boost applied across a full radius of growing plants recoups 25,000 Sheckles within a harvest or two. The five-minute lifespan is the catch — drop it right before a batch matures, not on freshly planted seeds, or the timer runs out before the size bonus matters.

In progression terms this is your early-game sprinkler. Buy it as soon as you can comfortably spare 25,000 and have enough plants to fill the radius; the additive stacking also means it stays useful later layered under an Advanced Sprinkler. Don't expect the Wet mutation to carry it — treat that as a bonus, not the reason to buy. As a starter utility tool, it earns its price.
