Because it is event-locked, its obtainability flips on and off with the calendar: when the event is live, you can chase it through the Halloween market alongside Candy Corn purchases, and when the event closes it becomes a vault item you simply cannot acquire until a rerun. That scarcity is the whole point of its value.

Where the Reaper matters to your farm economy is timing and currency conversion. The Halloween market sells everything in Candy Corn, the event-only currency you earn by harvesting spooky-themed crops, so the smart play is to bank a Candy Corn surplus early and prioritize high-stock, high-chance items before splurging on rare assets like the Reaper. Notably, an old bug kept Poison Apple, Reaper and Skull Chain locked to the same stock rotation, so seasoned players watched those three together.

Optimal use is simple: treat the Reaper as a prestige/collection chase, not a progression staple. Lock in your core spooky seeds and pets first, then convert leftover Candy Corn into the Reaper before the window shuts.
