Grumble

Grumbles are what a Giggle grows into: giant beige creatures about 8 m tall with eight tentacles and a huge smiling mouth, and the main obstacle in The Nest. A total of five Grumbles, the Queen Grumble among them, patrol that area after the first Seek chase, getting in the way of the players who are trying to activate every anchor to power the bridge.

How they hunt

A Grumble that sees you starts chasing while laughing deeply, and stops when it loses sight of you. It cannot hear footsteps or dropped items, but is drawn to lights turning on or off. A touch flings you away and deals 50 damage. In first person, if you have 50 HP or less, it grabs you and eats you. They follow paths of nodes, so they walk predictable routes. Their tentacles have no hitbox, only the main body does damage, yet they can hurt you through thin objects like shearable vines.

Getting away

Run for the gate or a nearby small room, because Grumbles cannot enter small spaces. Raise the volume to hear their roaming, and use the screen shaking as a signal: when it stops, it is more likely safe to cross the tunnels. They tend to camp around the C Anchor, so wait for gaps. A Crucifix banishes Grumbles since The Content Update, but not the queen. They were introduced in The Mines Update on August 30, 2024. In God Mode they ignore the player.
