Book

Library Books are the clue-bearing items of The Library at Door 50 in The Hotel. Eight of them are scattered through the room, and each one shows a shape and a single digit. The same shapes appear on the Paper, so combining the two reveals the code for the padlock on Door 51. Three of the books are decoys that carry no useful digit.

Spotting them

A Book is cyan with Guiding Light's crescent moon on it and is usually set at a slight angle among the unreadable ones. Books also give off a faint shimmering sound like keys, which is easier to hear with the Game Music turned down, but not with the Soundproofing modifier.

Reading them

Pressing interact pulls the book off the shelf. After reading, the book is discarded and its shape and digit appear on the left of the screen with the portrait of whoever collected it. The shape order is randomized each run.

The cost

Only five digits are needed, but all eight books must be found to finish the code without guessing, because the last book always holds the final digit. Reading a book makes no noise and does not attract Figure, yet each one collected raises Figure's walk speed by 0.8. In SUPER HARD MODE!!!, fifteen books are required.
