Batfish guide
Batfish is a plain Common catch at Coral Bastion, and its needs are simple: Shrimp bait, Day, Clear weather and Summer. The wiki describes a strangely shaped fish with elongated fins that look like wings. It averages 5 kg, with a minimum of 2 kg and a maximum of 16.8 kg.
Do not expect much from it. An average sale of C$43.8 is 668th of 742 documented fish, and base XP is 45, which means it sits near the bottom of the catalogue on both counts. Even its maximum weight, 417th of 663 fish with a recorded maximum, is middling.
Lizardfish is the other Common fish in the same zone, and Coral Rod is the rod sold at Coral Bastion, so a beginner can gear up and fish there without leaving. That is the real value of this entry: it is an easy early catch, not a profit source. If you are starting out, catch a few to fill your journal and gain a bit of XP. Once your rod improves, you will find that the same time is better spent chasing higher-rarity fish.
