Mythic Fish

“The Mythic Fish is an extremely rare and beautiful fish. They swim gracefully in couples of two near the surface of the ocean water. They seem weak, but they can oddly put up a strong fight when being caught. This is due to the other Mythic Fish attempting to aid it's partner by pulling it off the hook.”— in-game Bestiary description

Mythic Fish guide

Despite the plain name, the Mythic Fish is a Mythical catch from The Ocean. It is described as extremely rare and beautiful, and it swims in open water during the Day.

The bait is specific: Flakes or Super Flakes. Weight stays small, from 0.6 kg to 3.5 kg with a 1 kg average, and that maximum ranks 567th of 663 fish with a documented maximum. The price per kg is C$1,429, so an average catch is worth C$1,429, 289th of the 742 documented fish by average value, and it gives 800 base XP.

Same-zone, same-rarity fish include Colossal Squid, Great Hammerhead Shark, Great White Shark, Oarfish, Sea Pickle and Whale Shark, so The Ocean has a crowded Mythical pool. What sets this one apart is that it is a light fish that pays well per kg, while its weight ranking is near the bottom.

Practical advice: carry Flakes or Super Flakes during the day and watch for it. It makes a fine mid-tier payout for a light fish. If you are already fishing The Ocean at day with the right bait, it is a worthwhile roll, and the weight does not need to be lucky for the sale to be decent.
