Halibut harpoon review
Monty's Lab sells the Halibut harpoon for C$50,000,000, which puts it among the most expensive options in the game. The stats justify part of that: this is a well-rounded rod with no weak spot, although it has no passive.
Luck of 288 ranks 17th of 184 obtainable rods, and Lure Speed of 132 ranks 13th, so it is both lucky and quick. Resilience of 56 is 18th, which means the line holds up well against strong fish. Control is the one stat that lags, 0.1 at 76th of 185, so the reel bar is nothing special.
Now the price check. Cinder Block Rod gives luck 300 for C$50,000, and Dead Man's Rod and Ruinous Oath each give luck 300 for C$5,000,000. All three are cheaper and carry more Luck than the harpoon's 288. That does not make the harpoon bad, since it beats them on Resilience and speed in several cases, but it does mean you are paying for a balanced profile rather than the best luck per coin.
Verdict: a late-game purchase for a player who already has the money and wants a rod that is top twenty in three of its four stats. If your goal is only the highest Luck, spend less on one of the cheaper rods above.
