How to get Blade Master
Free to play (formerly Early Access). Updates page: January 21 2024 says 'Blade Master - Free next weekend to let early access users experience it fully'; January 27 2024 has the heading 'BLADE MASTER FREE TO PLAY'.
Passives
Blade Ignition
Stronger M1s: during a finisher and during the ultimate, the sword is set on fire and each M1 hit deals more damage (total M1 damage goes from 14% to 20%; the wiki formula is base M1 damage x 1.5 minus 0.1). Lasts 8 uses (infinite in awakening) and a long duration of 2 minutes; it does not boost mini-uppercuts, downslams, front dashes, Critical Hits or Black Flashes. It also unlocks a downslam variant (10%, 3 uses): do an M1 combo, deliberately skip the third hit, jump and press M1.
Master of Kenjutsu
Listed as a passive in the infobox; the page describes it in the M1 row: the user wields a katana and the last M1 has greatly increased recoil.
Base moves
M1 Master of Kenjutsu — Wiki M1 damage: 14%. Four katana slashes (blue lines, orange when the blade is ablaze), moderate swing rate, slow startup, and increased knockback on the final hit.
- 1Quick Slice
The user dashes backward and then slashes rapidly, hitting everything struck.
- Can be blocked
- Can hit ragdolled opponents
- Longer end-lag if blocked or missed
- Can be countered
- Both the backward dash and the slashes can be aimed to an extent
- Finisher triggers at 13%: the user spins, slashes and immobilizes the target, dashes through in rainbow-colored beams, and the target's limbs are severed
18.3% (Barrage)CD 20 Seconds - 2Atmos Cleave
The user stomps to trip nearby enemies, then launches the target into the air with four slashes and slams them back down into a ragdoll state.
- Initial stomp breaks block, the slashes do not
- Can evade during the attack
- Can hit ragdolled opponents
- Long windup
- No end-lag
- Can be countered
- Finisher triggers at 18.5%: a downward slash, the user sheathes the katana, and the stunned target shatters into pieces
18.3% [2.5% (Stomp) + 0.5 + 2 + 2.3 + 10 (Slashes) + 1 (Ragdolled victim falling on the floor)]CD 22 Seconds - 3Pinpoint Cut
The user dashes forward, kicks the enemy into the air and follows with a rising slash that launches them away.
- If blocked it sends the opponent into a ragdoll state (about 1.40 seconds)
- The kick phase can break guard, the slash cannot
- Moderate recovery delay if the slash misses
- Dodging is possible during the attack
- Can be countered
- Even if the guard-breaking phase misses, the final part can still hit a player in range
- Finisher (ground) triggers at 15%: a second horizontal slash immobilizes the opponent mid-air and they are dismembered, leaving the head and torso
- Cooldown cell is a rowspan covering the variant row (written 'Rowspan="2"')
- Pinpoint Cut | Variant · 10% | 17.5% (If opponent is mid air) — The user leaps into the air and slashes down at a 45-degree angle, hitting targets in range.
15% [5% (Kick) + 10% (Slash)]CD 17 Seconds - 4Split Second Counter
A counter: the user raises the sword in a defensive stance; if struck, they instantly dash behind the opponent and sheathe the katana, damaging them.
- Single-target counter attack
- Nearly unlimited trigger range
- Teleports the user when triggered
- Does not deflect projectiles (unlike Prey's Peril)
- Armor during the animation
- I-Frames during the finisher
- Finisher triggers at 17.5%: the screen goes black and white, rapid slashes, the kanji for death appears and the enemy explodes into pieces; per the trivia it deals infinite damage and is the only base move that grants I-Frames on a finisher
10% | 30% (AoE) [15% (initial stun) + 15% (opponent nearby the countered target)]CD 17.4 Seconds
Awakening
G Scorching Blade
Meter: Not stated on the Blade Master page; the standard is 350 damage per The Strongest Hero page.
Duration: 50 seconds
Activation: the user lights the blade with flame, gathers air into a vortex and after a long wind-up makes a wide horizontal fire slash (35% in front, 11% to enemies behind, who roll; the slash has Armor Break). The kit then becomes Sunset, Solar Cleave, Sunrise and Atomic Slash, and Blade Ignition stays active with infinite uses.
Awakening moves
- 1Sunset
After a short wind-up the user performs a fiery four-hit combo that carries the opponents along, then drives the sword into the target's chest to cause a large explosion.
- Cannot be blocked
- Each slash dashes the user forward
- Multi-grab
- Startup and sword planting can be interrupted if you are fast enough
- Armor on a successful grab, or after planting the sword into the ground
- Initial start causes enemies to Roll
- Animation lasts 7 seconds
- Deals tick damage each tick to anyone around the user after the final slash and before the explosion; tick damage ignores all counters
63% [5% (Startup) + ???% (4 Slashes) + 40% (Explosion)] (the 4 slashes do a random amount of damage but the total is always 63)CD 15 Seconds - 2Solar Cleave
The user rushes forward in a straight line carrying opponents with them, then ends the dash with a diagonal thrust that knocks targets to the ground. Damage grows with the distance travelled.
- Cannot be blocked
- Can be interrupted
- Armor during the attack
- The first hit (the dash) bypasses Death Counter, the second hit does not; if timed correctly it can bypass Death Blow
- Multi-grab

After a brief stance the user dashes forward, kicks an opponent high into the air, wreathes the blade in flame and delivers a rapid series of slashes on the falling target; sheathing the weapon makes the target explode and fly away.
- Cannot be blocked
- Single target
- Armor during the cutscene
- Animation lasts 6.5 seconds
- Can be countered (Prey's Peril, Split Second Counter, Crossfire)
- All attacks after the first kick can damage and ragdoll other players
47% | 1% (Kick) + 20.3% (Slashes) + 25% (Explosion) AoECD 20 seconds - 4Atomic Slash
From a special stance the user cuts the opponent so precisely that it splits an atom, setting off a chain of explosions that throws the target away in flames; it re-ragdolls an already ragdolled opponent in range of the first explosion.
- Can be redirected during startup
- Multi-target; can hit an indefinite number of people without damage reduction
- Kills regardless of health on a direct hit; the explosion after the cutscene can kill anyone near the target
- Initial hit has Armor Break
- Armor during startup
- I-Frames during the cutscene

About Blade Master
Atomic Slash is the move that defines Blade Master: a one-time ultimate that kills regardless of health on a direct hit, cannot be countered by Death Counter or Death Blow, destroys Tech Prodigy's Iron Giant, and sets off an explosion that can kill anyone near the target (40% on an indirect hit, 100% AoE). The wiki says the only known way to avoid it is a move or awakening with i-frames.
The rest of the kit is more modest. The base moves are Quick Slice (18.3%, 20 seconds), Atmos Cleave (18.3%, 22 seconds), Pinpoint Cut (15%, 17 seconds) and Split Second Counter (10% plus 30% AoE, 17.4 seconds); it is one of only four characters with a counter in the base moveset. Its passive, Blade Ignition, sets the sword on fire after a finisher and during the ultimate so M1s hit harder (the wiki says total M1 damage rises from 14% to 20%, for 8 uses or unlimited during the awakening). Scorching Blade lasts 50 seconds and opens with a 35% fire slash after a very long wind-up, then Sunset (63%), Solar Cleave (29%), Sunrise (47%) and Atomic Slash replace your moves.
Expect a demanding character. The wiki says it has a high skill floor and is not recommended for beginners, and notes that Split Second Counter does not reflect projectiles. Its basic moveset totals 62.5 damage with Split Second Counter's 10 included, eighth in the wiki's ranking.
What the wiki notes
- Sixth playable character, based on Kamikaze (Atomic Samurai); wields a katana called the sun blade.
- One of only four characters with a counter in the base moveset (the others are Hero Hunter, KJ and Undying Hero).
- Blade Ignition boosts M1s after a finisher or in awakening (8 uses, infinite during awakening) and adds a 3-use downslam variant; the wiki lists a best inescapable combo of 70% damage (67.3% without Blade Ignition).
- Atomic Slash is a one-time ultimate move that kills on a direct hit, cannot be countered by Death Counter or Death Blow, and destroys Tech Prodigy's Iron Giant; its explosion kills anyone near the target.
- Sunset and Solar Cleave are fast, hard-to-evade multi-grabs, and the awakening moves have comparatively short cooldowns; the Scorching Blade startup is extremely long.
- Wiki cons: many slow startups, Pinpoint Cut and Quick Slice are easy to counter and punish on miss, Split Second Counter does not reflect projectiles, and the character has a high skill floor (not recommended for beginners).
- AoE moves have no cap on the number of targets, which makes it good against groups and fills the awakening meter faster.
- Characters page ranks its basic-moveset total at 62.5 damage with Split Second Counter's 10 included (8th of the ranked list).
Blade Master techs
- Precision Cutthen after the third M1, execute the following as quickly as possible: side dash away from the opponent as far as possible, hold SPACE, use Pinpoint Cut, then face the opponent.
- Back to BackDeal 2 m1s, m1 and side dash at the same time and quickly face your back to the opponent and use Quick Slice.
- freshfrenchfries TechWhile performing an M1 string, prepare to do a mini uppercut, and at the same time you mini uppercut, side dash away from the opponent (make sure you are holding space throughout the entire duration of the tech) then quickly look back towards them and use aerial Pinpoint Cut.
- Phantom CleaveIn order to perform this tech, you’d need to get hit by a Wild Psychic’s ult activation. Once the animation ends you’ll have to use your evasive and make sure that you move above your opponent, then activate Atmos Cleave as you fall (this may need to be timed right).
- True Fire SlamDo two/three M1s on an enemy, Front Dash into them, and then downslam.
- Double FireslamPerform a M1, then jump afterwards hold M1 then the first downslam will trigger, right after the endlag ends jump again and click M1 again.
- pinpoint cut tech so coolUse normal pinpoint cut on someone and walk up to them and catch them using m1s, resetting your m1 combo.
- Kusho DodgeAfter an atomic uppercuts and uses Atomic Slash, use the aerial variant of Pinpoint Cut to dodge the slash itself.
Where the wiki disagrees
- Free-to-play date: the Updates page says on January 21 2024 'Free next weekend to let early access users experience it fully' and on January 27 2024 has the heading 'BLADE MASTER FREE TO PLAY', but that same entry lists 'NEW EARLY ACCESS CHARACTER - One move, has wall combo & spawn animation' (unnamed, probably another character). Use January 27 2024 only as the wiki's heading date.
- Sunrise: damage cell says 47% but its breakdown 1% (Kick) + 20.3% (Slashes) + 25% (Explosion) adds up to 46.3%.
- Blade Ignition: text says total M1 damage rises from 14% to 20%, but the stated formula (base M1 damage x 1.5, minus 0.1) gives 20.9%.
- Burst name: the Blade Master page calls its burst 'Severance' (20%: 15% first impact + 5% follow-up), the Basic Combat page calls it 'Atomic Time Stop Cut'.
- Armor: Cons say 'Only Atomic Slash has armor', while the table lists Armor on Split Second Counter (during animation), Solar Cleave, Sunrise (cutscene) and Sunset (on grab/plant). Basic Combat lists only Atomic Slash as granting armor immediately on activation.
- Split Second Counter damage: the table tooltip says 15% for the initial stun + 15% if an opponent is nearby (30% AoE), while Pros say it 'deals 30% damage to anyone near the victim'.
- Pinpoint Cut finisher: the wiki gives each variant its own row but the first row (ground) and second row (air variant) assignment of the two descriptions is inferred from table order.
