How to get Hero Hunter

Free (formerly an Early Access character). The wiki does not give the date it became free; the Early Access gamepass was added on January 27 2023 with Garou as its first character.

Passives

Bloodlust

Health Gain: landing a finisher regenerates HP, with the amount depending on the move (Hunter's Grasp about 20%, 30% with Lethal Whirlwind Stream, 35% with Flowing Water, 40% with Prey's Peril; The Final Hunt about 50%; Water Stream Cutting Fist, Rock Splitting Fist and ranged Crushed Rock about 50% but only on players in public servers). Works during Rampage, heals from dead or alive players, not from dismembered ones, and only one Hero Hunter can heal from a given corpse.

Water Arts

Listed in the infobox as a passive; it is the name of the M1 sequence (two punches, a right knee and a spinning kick whose last hit launches the target up and back).

Base moves

M1 Water Arts โ€” Two punches, a right knee and a left spinning jumping kick with blue trails; the last hit launches the target up and back, enabling the Twisted Tech and follow-ups like Flowing Water and Lethal Whirlwind Stream. Medium to fast swing rate.

  • 1Flowing Water

After a brief wind-up the user dashes forward, locks onto the target and hits their chest ten times in a barrage before launching them away.

    • Armor during the grabbing motion
    • Can be blocked, but blocking increases knockback (damage unchanged)
    • AoE attack that can hit multiple players
24.5%; up to 12% (AoE, varies with hits landed but always stops at 12%)CD 17 Seconds
  • 2Lethal Whirlwind Stream

The user grabs the opponent by the neck, drags them along the ground and slams them down, launching them. An aerial variant triggers if the user touches sloped terrain about half a second before the move ends.

    • Armor on grab
    • Can be guarded (the only blockable base move per the Cons list)
    • Leaping down from a height or slamming using fall momentum adds damage and a bigger AoE (Webby Smash)
    • The AoE cannot be countered (Death Counter, Death Blow) but can be guarded
    18.5%; 15% (5% initial slam + 10% spinning slam) (AoE); 28.5% (Webby Smash)CD 20 secs
  • 3Hunter's Grasp

The user stomps to raise a rock, grabs the opponent's chest with the left arm, spins and throws them forward.

    • Armor on grab
    • Unblockable
    • Can be used against grounded opponents; throws a standing target farther
    • Can be countered as usual
    • The thrown victim deals damage to anything it hits and that damage bypasses Death Counter and Death Blow
    • Can start or extend a combo
8.3% (varies with collision and distance: up to 5% if the thrown target hits a player, up to 3% if it hits a solid object); 12% (AoE)CD 15 Seconds
  • 4Prey's Peril

A counter stance: the user raises a hand to their face and, on taking damage, drags the opponent in, keeps them airborne with rapid strikes and launches them. Also reflects projectiles.

    • Armor during the attack
    • Drags the opponent to the user or the user to the opponent (can behave unstably with latency)
    • AoE
    • Reflects projectile-based attacks
22% (6% barrage + 15% final hit); Reflect Variant: depends on the projectile (same damage as the thrown projectile)CD 17 secs

Awakening

G Rampage

Meter: Standard 350 damage points (the wiki gives 350 as the default for every character except The Strongest Hero and Brutal Demon; no Hero Hunter-specific value is stated)

Duration: 49 seconds

The user wipes blood from their mouth and slams the ground, creating a crater; the startup smash deals up to 30% depending on distance (30% inner center, 20% outer center, 15% far, 10% very far) and has Armor Break. Your moveset becomes Water Stream Cutting Fist, The Final Hunt, Rock Splitting Fist and Crushed Rock.

Awakening moves

  • 1Water Stream Cutting Fist

A barrage of fast punches ending in a slam that makes a crater. It can hit ragdolled players. (The wiki also calls it Water Stream Rock Smashing, its former name.)

    • Can be countered (Prey's Peril, Split Second Counter, Spiraling Storm, Crossfire)
    • Unblockable
    • If at least one punch connects, armor lasts for the entire move
    • The consecutive hits reset the ragdoll timer to 1 second
    26.3%CD 8.5 Seconds
  • 2The Final Hunt

The user spins and slams a leg into the ground; on a hit the opponent is launched and suspended spinning, then the user leaps up and delivers a follow-up slam with a shockwave for 69% total.

    • Armor Break
    • Cannot be countered (Death Counter, Death Blow)
    • Armor during startup and I-Frames while hitting
    • Very limited range of about two tiles; only the first tile triggers the animation and the second only deals 20%
    • If you miss, you lose the move for the rest of the ultimate
    69%; up to 52.5% (AoE: 20% initial hit mini-AOE + 32.5% final hit AoE)CD One-Time Use; 42 Seconds (infinite ultimate)
  • 3Rock Splitting Fist

A powerful two-handed chop that launches the target, followed by a two-fist shove that sends them tumbling.

    • Can be countered (Prey's Peril, Split Second Counter, Spiraling Storm, Crossfire)
    • Can catch most ultimate moves if timed properly, or avoid them
    • Armor during startup and hit
    • Rock Splitting Fist (Miss Variant) ยท 26% โ€” If the chop misses but the target is caught by the final hit, they are knocked away and ragdolled. Shares the 14 Seconds cooldown (rowspan in the table). Can be countered; has extra armor on end lag.
    37.8%CD 14 Seconds
  • 4Crushed Rock

After a wind-up the user dashes and punches; on connection they get behind the target, grab them and slam them head-first into the ground, making a crater. The only ranged-style move of the kit.

    • Grappling move
    • Unblockable
    • Can be countered (Prey's Peril, Split Second Counter, Spiraling Storm, Crossfire)
    • Area-of-effect attacks cannot be negated by Death Counter/Death Blow
    • Armor on hit
    • Crushed Rock (Close Range Variant) ยท 30%; 12% (AoE) โ€” Punch to the abdomen, face slam, a savage blow that makes a crater, then a dash away. Has an Assault Chain: contacting another target during the charge grabs and slams them and continues, never striking the same or previous target, with 1% extra damage in this mode. Cannot be blocked, can be countered (Prey's Peril, Split Second Counter, Crossfire), AoE can bypass Death Counter and Death Blow, armor on a successful attack and during rapid movement. Shares the 9.5 Seconds cooldown.
    • Crushed Rock (Interaction) ยท 27% โ€” If the ranged variant is used against a Martial Artist player, a clash triggers where the Martial Artist dodges and strikes ineffectively and the Hero Hunter still grabs and slams them. Only once per Martial Artist player, cannot be blocked, the AoE cannot be countered, armor on impact. Cooldown 9.5 Seconds.
    27%CD 9.5 Seconds

About Hero Hunter

Hero Hunter, based on Garou, heals by finishing people. Its passive Bloodlust regenerates HP on a finisher, with the amount depending on the move: about 20% for Hunter's Grasp, 30% for Lethal Whirlwind Stream, 35% for Flowing Water, 40% for Prey's Peril and about 50% for The Final Hunt. It works on dead or alive targets but not dismembered ones, and only one Hero Hunter can heal from a given corpse.

The base moves:

  • Flowing Water: 24.5%, 17 seconds. Ten chest hits, with armor while it grabs.
  • Lethal Whirlwind Stream: 18.5%, 20 seconds. A neck grab and slam; the Cons list calls it the only blockable base move, although the Flowing Water row says that move can be blocked too.
  • Hunter's Grasp: 8.3%, 15 seconds. An unblockable throw with armor on the grab.
  • Prey's Peril: 22%, 17 seconds. A counter stance that also reflects projectiles; Hero Hunter was the first character with a base counter.

Its basic moveset totals 73.3 damage, third in the wiki's ranking. The awakening, Rampage, lasts 49 seconds and swaps the kit for Water Stream Cutting Fist (26.3%), The Final Hunt (69%, the only ultimate that cannot be countered), Rock Splitting Fist (37.8%) and Crushed Rock (27%). No Hero Hunter-specific meter value is given, so the standard 350 damage applies. The wiki also flags short range, a single mobility skill and counters on almost every move. It is free now, but the wiki does not say when it left Early Access.

What the wiki notes

  • Grapple/rushdown character; base and ultimate moves give armor when they land, which helps against several attackers.
  • Prey's Peril is a counter that also reflects projectiles; Hero Hunter was the first character with a counter in its base form.
  • The Final Hunt is the only ultimate move that cannot be countered and it bypasses Death Counter and Death Blow.
  • Bloodlust heals on finishers, with a larger heal from stronger moves.
  • Finisher thresholds: Flowing Water 23%, Lethal Whirlwind Stream 21%, Hunter's Grasp 16%, Prey's Peril 21%.
  • Burst: Fluid Assault, a zigzag dash that stuns on hit (10% for the dash, 7% for the final hit); it is the default burst that characters without their own use.
  • Weaknesses stated: short range, only one mobility skill (Crushed Rock), and almost all moves can be countered with basic counters.
  • Removed moves on the page: Hunter's Cruelty (replaced by Rock Splitting Fist) and Doomed Prey (replaced by Crushed Rock).

Where the wiki disagrees

  • Page carries the Stub, Removed (contains cut content/old moves for archival purposes) and Upcoming Rework banners, so some content may be outdated.
  • Move name: the ultimate slot 1 is 'Water Stream Cutting Fist' in the page's move table, while the Characters page, the Pros/Cons text and other pages still use the former name 'Water Stream Rock Smashing' (the page says it was renamed in the KJ update).
  • Prey's Peril damage: tooltip reads 22% but the breakdown is 6% (barrage) + 15% (final hit) = 21%.
  • Rock Splitting Fist: move table gives 37.8% (miss variant 26%) while the Pros list says its end part does 25%.
  • Healing: Passives section says ranged Crushed Rock heals about 50% (players, public servers only), but the Cons list says Crushed Rock's finisher will not heal the character.
  • Finisher: a 'The Final Hunt (Triggers at 40%)' finisher is listed, but the Trivia says its finisher is not confirmed as a planned finisher (only a concept by Kirv), while the Pros list says the Cosmic Update gave The Final Hunt a finisher.
  • Recommended players: the intro says it is generally an ideal choice for beginners, but a later paragraph and the Characters page say intermediate and advanced players.
  • Awakening duration: this page says Rampage lasts 49 seconds, the Awakening page says the gauge takes about 45 seconds to run out for most characters. Distance labels for Rampage damage differ (page: inner center 30%, outer center 20%, far 15%, very far 10%; Awakening page: Very Close 30%, Close 20%, Far 15%, Very Far 10%).
  • Early Access price: Updates page (January 27 2023) says 300 Robux; the Early Access Gamepass page says 299 Robux.
  • Hunter's Grasp info cell contains a stray word 'Normal' before its description (ignored).
  • Awakening meter: no Hero Hunter-specific value is on its page; 350 is the default stated on The Strongest Hero page.
  • Cons say Lethal Whirlwind Stream is the only blockable base move, but the Flowing Water row says it can be blocked (with increased knockback) and its area attack can be guarded.
