Meteor Event — In-Depth Analysis
The Meteor Event is a random run event added in the late-September 2025 update, and its timing is precise: meteors begin crashing across the map on the third night, while the standard Tool Workshop is swapped out for a Meteor Tool Workshop. Because it is random, you cannot count on it every game, but when it triggers it reshapes both the threat picture and your crafting options for that run.
The danger comes from the Meteor Crabs that accompany the event. Each is a Hostile entity with 75 HP and 20 damage, so while one is manageable, several crashing in at once on night three can overwhelm an under-equipped camp. Deal with them one at a time, use ranged or hit-and-run tactics to avoid clustered hits, and do not let the 20-damage swings stack while you are repairing or building.
The trade-off is worthwhile loot: crabs drop Meteor Shards (0-2), the occasional Gold Shard (0-1) and a Morsel or two. Those shards feed the special Meteor Tool Workshop, so clearing the event efficiently converts a third-night spike in danger into a meaningful crafting and upgrade window for the rest of your run.
