Scorpion — In-Depth Analysis
The Scorpion is a low-tier but spiteful hostile added in the Volcanic Biome update. On paper it is fragile, with just 50 HP and 20 damage and a sluggish walkspeed of 20, so a single survivor with a decent axe can drop one quickly. The real danger is not the raw hit but the poison: scorpion attacks can leave you taking damage over time, which turns a careless brush-past into a slow bleed if you keep moving instead of dealing with it.
The bigger issue is numbers. Scorpions cluster around their nests and pits in the volcanic zone, so the threat scales when several swarm you at once and stack that poison. Clear them one at a time, back into a choke if you can, and don't wade into a pit blind.
Loot is modest: Morsel (0-1) and Scorpion Shell (0-1), so don't expect a feast from farming them. If you would rather recruit one, the taming cost is cheap at just Steak x2 and Morsel x2, making the Scorpion an affordable early companion if you are exploring the Volcano.
