Arctic Fox — In-Depth Analysis
The Arctic Fox is a Snow Biome predator, and its stat line marks it as a light-but-nimble threat: 80 HP, 12 damage, and a quick walkspeed of 27. The damage per hit is modest compared to wolves or bears, but the speed is the catch — at 27 it darts in and out, so a careless survivor can get pecked down by repeated bites while chasing it across the snow.
Because its HP is low, treat the Arctic Fox as a burst-kill target rather than a drawn-out fight. A couple of solid melee swings or a ranged shot will end it before the chip damage adds up. Fight with the terrain at your back so it cannot circle you, and avoid pursuing it into a pack of other snow enemies. The loot is light and food-focused: 1-2 Morsel every time, plus a chance at an Arctic Fox Pelt (0-1) useful for cold-weather crafting like knitting.
If you would rather tame it, the cost is refreshingly cheap — Steak x3 and Chili x3 — making it one of the more accessible Snow Biome companions for the early-to-mid run.
