Frog Invasion — In-Depth Analysis
The Frog Invasion is an event in 99 Nights in the Forest, added on August 22, 2025, and also the page for the frogs themselves. It begins when the screen reads "something is emerging from the ponds". Every pond on the map then gets two Green Frogs and sometimes a Blue Frog, and a Frog Cave appears somewhere on the map with a Purple Frog and three Green Frogs inside. The event is not guaranteed in every run.
Frogs are hostile. They attack with their tongues for about 5 damage and apply the poison effect, and they have roughly 70 HP. There are four types, from strongest to weakest: Frog King (orange), Purple, Blue and Green. Killing a frog spawns two frogs of the next weaker type, and a Green Frog drops a Morsel instead. They may also drop a Frog Key. Only Green Frogs can be tamed, with 2 Mackerel and an Old Taming Flute.
To open the cave you need 8 Frog Keys, obtained by fishing in lakes and ponds or by killing Blue or Purple Frogs. Then find the Whirlpool at the Frog Pond and jump in to reach the cave entrance. Inside, frogs attack in waves, similar to the Mothership. Using all 8 keys unlocks the cave and spawns the Frog King, with the Frog Chest behind it, which opens only after the boss dies. The chest, or fishing in the cave pool, can give a Poison Spear, Poison Armor, Blowdart or Frog Boots. Defeating the Frog King earns the Beastmaster badge, worth 4 diamonds.
