Log Gate — In-Depth Analysis
The Log Gate is a base-building piece in 99 Nights in the Forest, and unlike loot you scavenge it has to be crafted at a level 2 Crafting Bench. That bench requirement is the key detail: it is not a starter item, so you will only have access to it once you have invested wood and scrap into upgrading your crafting station past the first tier.
Functionally a gate is exactly what the name promises, a controllable opening in your wooden wall line. It lets your team run in and out to gather, hunt and revive while still presenting a barrier that night-time wolves and cultists have to chew through. The real value of a Log Gate is denying enemies a free path into the camp where your campfire and sleeping teammates sit.
Is it worth building? For solo players it is optional, but for a fortified group base it is close to essential. A wall with no gate traps you inside or forces a permanent hole. Prioritize it once you have a stable wood economy and a level 2 bench, ideally before the harder mid-game nights when raids scale up and an open perimeter becomes lethal.
