Quick Facts
- Obtained from
- Currently, the only way to obtain the Mammoth Helmet is by crafting it at the Tool Workshop. This means you do not need the snow biome to craft it. It can be crafted on any biome. To craft it you need to break open the entrance of the Tool Workshop with an axe/chainsaw, assemble the parts of the anvil located on all three floors, then drop two mammoth tusks and two wolf pelts on the anvil.
Mammoth Helmet — In-Depth Analysis
The Mammoth Helmet is one of the best defensive pieces in 99 Nights in the Forest because it does two jobs at once: it counts as Warm Clothing and it reduces incoming damage. That dual role makes it stand out from cosmetic headgear, since staying warm normally costs you an inventory slot for a coat while armor costs another, and this single helmet partly covers both needs.
Getting it is a project. The only source is crafting it at the Tool Workshop, and the workshop itself has to be opened up first: you break the entrance with an axe or chainsaw, assemble the anvil parts scattered across all three floors, then drop two Mammoth Tusks and two Wolf Pelts on the finished anvil. A nice quirk is that it does not require the snow biome, so you can craft it in any biome once you have the tusks.
Is it worth it? Strongly yes for cold-map or long survival runs. The warmth keeps your temperature meter from draining while the damage reduction softens wolf and bear hits. The cost in tusks is the real gate, but if you are already hunting mammoths the helmet is an efficient, lasting upgrade rather than a consumable.
