Obsidiron Hammer — In-Depth Analysis
The Obsidiron Hammer is a top-tier melee weapon in 99 Nights in the Forest that shares the same raw profile as the Morningstar and Cultist King Mace: a 1-second swing rate dealing 70 base damage per hit. On its own that already puts it among the hardest hitters in the game, but the hammer adds a signature twist that the others lack.
Every time you land a hit, a bar fills on the side of your screen, and when it tops out an explosion automatically goes off around you, dealing about 60 damage to nearby enemies. That built-in area burst makes the Obsidiron Hammer exceptional against swarms, where the passive blast clears out clustered wolves or Cultists you are not even directly targeting.
Getting one takes effort. It drops from Obsidiron Chests, was available during the Thanksgiving event, and can currently be earned by saving the elves, with a chance to receive it alongside 5 candy canes (6 if you run the tier 3 Santa's Helper class). Is it worth grabbing? Strongly yes. Single-target damage on par with the best melee plus free crowd-clearing explosions makes it one of the most well-rounded weapons you can carry into the late-game waves.
