Description

Shark is one of the rarer races players can land on character creation, and it can be rerolled through the Shop, Event Shop, or by speaking with the Death King NPC. Like all races in Blox Fruits, Shark can be awakened through progressive V2, V3, and V4 upgrades unlocked via the Race Awakening questline, each tier adding stronger passive bonuses on top of the base perks. Thematically built around durability and water affinity, Shark suits players who want a combat-oriented race capable of holding its own in extended fights. Its awakened forms deepen that identity, rewarding players who invest in the questline with increasingly impactful passives. If you rolled Shark early on, it is worth keeping until you have assessed whether its combat focus aligns with your playstyle before spending a reroll.

Pros8
  • +

Water immunity (or damage reduction for V1).

  • +

Can give a high damage reduction (especially with Awakened Buddha + Water Body).

  • +

    Great for PvP beginners.

  • +

Good for enduring attacks or combos, virtually rendering a combo useless.

  • +

Useful against teamers, spammers or trappers for surviving combos.

  • +

    Very useful against runners.

  • +

    Makes enemies easier to aim.

  • +

Decreases enemies' defense, making them more vulnerable.

Cons8
  • Ice's Frost Walker passive, Awakened Magma's Magmatic Feet passive, Awakened Buddha's [Z] (Shift), Awakened Dough's [F] (Scorching Donut), Kitsune's Transformation, Gas's Transformation and Yeti's Transformation can walk/roll on water, rendering Shark's passive abilities not that useful. However, it still protects from being dragged underwater with these fruits.

  • Crossing oceans can be faster with air dashing + use of mobility skill than swimming.

  • Non-Blox Fruit and Leviathan Shield users might not benefit from the water immunity.

  • No movement buff, which makes the player sluggish.

  • Considered to be outclassed by several other races in the community. (After being nerfed)

  • Some longer combos can easily counter.

  • Can be ignored by Lava but somehow takes around half damage and survives longer without reducing overflow.

  • Less useful against enemies that are not running or air campers.

Trivia

10
  1. 1

The V1 extra swim speed is faster than the Dinghy, but slower than the Sloop.

  2. 2

If the player has put 0 stats in defense, the passive of V1 will make it so you take 1 damage, and the player's health will be stuck at 99/100 hp. Note that this will only work with no defense and also no health-buffing accessories

  3. 3

The V2 swim speed is slightly faster than the Brigade.

  4. 4

The Leviathan's Armor effect will sometimes surround the user with a blue aura or a blue layer, depending on the avatar the user is using.

  5. 5

The Leviathan's Armor aura/layer will get brighter when the overflow bar decreases and disappear when it is gone.

  6. 6

Leviathan's Armor can be considered as the only defense that Gravity's upgraded [V], [C] and Piercing enchantment can't ignore, since it's more of a shield that grants the player extra HP than an actual defense buff measured in units such as percentages.

  7. 7

The overflow passive, which regenerates from dealing damage to NPC increased significantly (~22% -> ~50%). When the event ended, this change was no longer present.

  8. 8

    Shark was nerfed.

  9. 9

Reduced speed debuffs and max overflow on awakened passives.

  10. 10

The overflow passive now only protects against 85% of the damage received, instead of 100%.

Shark — In-Depth Analysis

## What Shark Is and How to Get It

Shark (formerly known as Fish) is one of the four starting bloodlines in Blox Fruits, rolled at character creation with a 12.5% chance. It can also be obtained via Race Reroll, the Event Shop, or Death King during limited windows. Despite being a spawn-race, Shark's niche identity is distinct enough that it never fully fades into irrelevance — particularly for players progressing through sea-based content.

## Role, Strengths, and Weaknesses

Shark is the tank and water-immunity race. Its signature passive grants immunity to water damage (or significant damage reduction at V1), which is a meaningful quality-of-life benefit across all three seas where ocean gaps are everywhere. Its V3 and V4 abilities add substantial damage reduction and can debuff enemies' defense, making Shark a reliable choice for surviving one-shot combos and enduring extended battles against teamers or spammers. Pairing it with an Awakened Buddha setup amplifies the defensive ceiling even further.

The weaknesses are also fundamental: Shark has no speed, no damage bonus, and after community-noted nerfs it is considered outclassed by most other races in open-world PvP. Several fruits (Awakened Magma, Ice, Awakened Buddha) can walk on water anyway, reducing the uniqueness of the passive. Air-camping opponents completely sidestep Shark's strengths.

Tip: If you're a newer player starting sea events without the Leviathan Shield accessory, Shark's water immunity and damage reduction are a genuine safety net — use it to learn sea-event mechanics before committing to a more offensive race.
