Quick Summary

Every island, quest NPC, hidden chest, and boss in Sea 1 โ€” laid out in the order I actually played them. From spawn to the Sea 2 portal, nothing skipped.

Sea 1 โ€” the Old World โ€” is where every Blox Fruits character begins. Twelve islands, 50+ quest NPCs, and 8 hidden areas with secret chests and unique drops. I played through it start to finish more times than I can count, and this walkthrough covers every location in geographic order so you can clear it systematically from level 1 all the way to 425 without doubling back.

Sea 1 island map overview

The Old World breaks into four clusters. Knowing the structure upfront saves a lot of aimless sailing.

Spawn Cluster (Levels 1โ€“75)
- Pirate Starter Island
- Marine Starter Island
- Middle Town

Mid-tier cluster (Levels 75โ€“200)
- Jungle Island
- Pirate Village
- Desert Island

High-tier cluster (Levels 200โ€“400)
- Frozen Village (Snow Mountain)
- Marine Fortress
- Magma Village

Hidden tier (Levels 300โ€“425)
- Underwater City
- Skylands

The Sea 2 portal sits at the Marine Fortress dock and activates at level 425+.

Pirate Starter Island (Levels 1โ€“15)

NPCs: Pirate Trainer (level 1 quests), Bartender (cosmetic NPC)
Quests: Defeat 5 Bandits, then 5 Monkeys, then the Mob Leader mini-boss
Drops: Pirate Hat (3% from Mob Leader)
Hidden: Behind the bar, a chest with 5,000 Beli respawns every 12 minutes

Everyone starts here. The quests are trivial and you will outlevel them fast. The one thing worth noting: that chest behind the bar is easy to miss on your first run. Grab it before you leave.

Middle Town (Levels 15โ€“35)

NPCs: Black Beard (level 15 quest giver), Sword Dealer (sells Cutlass and Saber)
Quests: Defeat 8 Brutes, then 10 Mobsters, then the Boss
Drops: Cutlass (NPC purchase), Mobster Hat (5% drop)
Hidden: Climb the bell tower for a chest with 12,000 Beli

The bell tower chest is the first one most new players miss. It is right above you the whole time โ€” just look up and climb.

Jungle Island (Levels 30โ€“60)

NPCs: Jungle Trainer, Gorilla King (level 20 boss)
Quests: Defeat 12 Pirates, then 15 Brutes, then boss raid
Drops: Gorilla Crown (cosmetic), Coat
Hidden: Behind the waterfall, a chest with a rare cosmetic

Gorilla King is worth fighting once for the cosmetic shot, but once you have done it there is no reason to farm him โ€” his drops are cosmetic only.

Pirate Village (Levels 35โ€“70)

NPCs: Pirate Captain, Black Leg trainer (free fighting style at level 75)
Quests: 8 Pirate quests plus a boss fight
Drops: Black Leg fighting style (free unlock at level 75)
Hidden: Behind the dock, a hidden cave with a 25,000 Beli chest

Black Leg at level 75 is a non-negotiable early unlock. It is free and it is good. The dock cave is easy to swim past without noticing โ€” check behind the dock before you move on.

Desert Island (Levels 60โ€“100)

NPCs: Desert Trainer, Sand Trainer (sells Sand fruit)
Quests: 10 Bandit quests then a boss raid
Drops: Desert Hat, Sand Fruit (low drop chance from boss)
Hidden: Climb the pyramid for a chest with 50,000 Beli

The pyramid chest is one of the best early Beli pickups in Sea 1. Climbing it is a bit annoying but worth it. Sand Fruit drops from the boss too โ€” low chance, but nice if it lands.

Snow Mountain (Levels 90โ€“130)

NPCs: Yeti (level 105 boss)
Quests: Defeat 15 Snow Soldiers, then 20 Snowmen, then Yeti
Drops: Snow Trooper accessory (defense buff), Snow Hat
Hidden: Cave entrance at the summit โ€” chest with a rare fruit

Yeti is the first boss that actually puts up a fight if you are underleveled. Come in at 105+ and it is manageable. The summit cave is easy to walk past โ€” it is a small entrance on the north face.

Marine Fortress (Levels 75โ€“150)

NPCs: Marine NPCs (best XP per minute in Sea 1 mid-game), Vice Admiral (level 130 boss)
Quests: 20 Marine quests plus a Vice Admiral raid
Drops: Magic Hat (5% damage accessory)
Hidden: Top floor โ€” chest with 35,000 Beli respawns every 25 minutes

Marine Fortress is the XP backbone of Sea 1 mid-game. I always came back here at 75 after picking up Black Leg in Pirate Village and stayed until 150. Magic Hat is worth farming โ€” 5% damage is legitimately useful through early Sea 2.

Magma Village (Levels 200โ€“250)

NPCs: Magma Trainer, Magma Admiral (level 200 boss with 15% Magma fruit drop)
Quests: 25 Lava Soldier quests plus Magma Admiral
Drops: Magma Fruit (15%), Magma Coat
Hidden: Volcano interior โ€” chest with 65,000 Beli plus a rare Beli boost cosmetic

Magma Admiral is the most valuable boss in all of Sea 1. A 15% drop rate on Magma Fruit is generous, and Magma is one of the best grinding fruits in the game. If you are farming for Beli or trying to get your first strong fruit, this is your stop. The volcano chest is inside the mountain โ€” look for the entrance on the lower slope.

Underwater City (Levels 300โ€“400)

NPCs: Hidden Trainer (only spawns underwater), high-XP NPCs
Quests: Underwater chain of 3 quests leading to a Hidden Boss
Drops: Underwater Cosmetic, Hidden Trainer rewards (200K+ Beli)
Hidden: This entire location is hidden โ€” accessible only with Race V2 (Mink or Sky) or a fast fruit

This was genuinely one of the bigger surprises for me the first time I found it. The whole place is a secret location. If you have Race V2 or a fruit with fast movement, the 200K+ Beli reward from the Hidden Trainer makes the detour very much worth it.

Skylands (Levels 280โ€“400)

NPCs: Sky Trainer
Quests: Sky Patrol quests (5 levels)
Drops: Sky Hat
Hidden: Behind the highest cloud โ€” chest with a rare cosmetic

Skylands is a bit out of the way but the Sky Patrol quests give solid XP for the level range. The hidden chest behind the highest cloud is easy to miss โ€” it is literally behind a cloud that looks decorative.

Sea 2 Portal (Marine Fortress Dock, Level 425)

The portal to Sea 2 activates at level 425. To trigger it:
1. Reach level 425.
2. Defeat Saber Expert (optional but recommended).
3. Speak to the Pirate Captain at the Marine Fortress dock.

The portal drops you into Kingdom of Rose, the first island of the Second Sea.

Hidden chests and respawn timers

Sea 1 has 12+ hidden chests. The ones actually worth going out of your way for:

LocationRewardRespawn
Magma Village volcano65K Beli + cosmetic30 min
Marine Fortress top35K Beli25 min
Underwater City200K+ Beli60 min
Skylands cloudRare cosmetic45 min
Snow Mountain summitRare fruit (low)60 min

If you plan your sailing route to chain these chests together, you can pick up 100K+ Beli per Sea 1 lap without doing any extra grinding. I used to do this between quest sessions and it adds up fast.

Boss farming priority

Not all Sea 1 bosses are worth re-farming. Here is the order I recommend:

  1. 1Magma Admiral โ€” 15% Magma Fruit drop is the highest-value reward in Sea 1. Farm until you get it.
  2. 2Yeti โ€” Snow Trooper accessory is a keeper for defense builds in early Sea 2.
  3. 3Vice Admiral โ€” Magic Hat is 5% damage and holds up through early Sea 2.

Skip Gorilla King and Mob Leader after your first kill. Their drops are cosmetic only and your time is better spent elsewhere.

NPC quest priority by level

For the best XP per hour at each stage:

  • Level 1โ€“30: Pirate Starter Island
  • Level 30โ€“75: Middle Town
  • Level 75โ€“150: Marine Fortress
  • Level 150โ€“250: Magma Village
  • Level 250โ€“400: Underwater City (best XP in all of Sea 1)

What is next

Once you cross into Sea 2, the progression rhythm changes completely. Pair this guide with the Beginner's Roadmap for a level-by-level progression path, and the Sea 3 Endgame Guide for what is waiting past the Second Sea.
