Rod Of The Depths

Rod Of The Depths is sold in The Depths for C$750,000, and it is built around one thing: its hunt focus is Absolute Darkness. The wiki says it was crafted by the Legendary King of The Depths and that his spirit occasionally visits to hand over a gift. It also has a passive and +2 Disturbance.

The base stats are middling. Luck of 130 ranks 85th of 184 obtainable rods, Lure Speed of 65 is 107th, Control of 0.15 is 54th of 185, and Resilience of 10 is 129th. The one standout is its 30,000 kg weight cap, 49th of 117 rods that list one, so it handles heavy fish well.

Cost is where it struggles. Champions Rod (luck 130, C$90,000), Cinder Block Rod (luck 300, C$50,000) and Destiny Rod (luck 250, C$190,000) all cost far less and carry equal or more Luck. Onirifalx is the only other rod sold in The Depths.

Verdict: this is a niche purchase for players who specifically want the Absolute Darkness focus and the occasional gift from the King. If your goal is Luck, you can do much better for less. If you already fish The Depths regularly and want a rod that suits the place, it is reasonable, but it will not outperform cheaper rods in general play.
