The Boom Ball review

Detonator's Rest sells The Boom Ball for C$50,000, and the in-game description is a warning in the form of a question: "how could this possibly be a good idea?" The numbers say the same.

Luck is 0 and Lure Speed is 0, ranking 176th and 174th of 184 obtainable rods. Resilience is -500, 182nd of 184, and a +5 Disturbance stat is also listed. In return, Control 0.5 is third of 185 and the weight limit of 500,000,000 kg is third of 117. It has a passive.

So this is a rod that trades nearly every normal stat for extreme Control and an enormous weight cap. If you are fishing for rare fish, it is the wrong tool, and cheaper rods with equal or more Luck exist: Avalanche Rod (Luck 68, C$35,000), Arctic Rod (Luck 45, C$25,000) and Brick Rod (Luck 75, C$13,337).

Verdict: buy it as a novelty or for experiments with Control and very heavy catches. For normal progression, put C$50,000 toward the Brick Rod or something with real Luck instead.
