Once the event closes, the egg leaves rotation, and anything you didn't hatch becomes trade-only at inflated rates.

At roughly one divine per two hundred eggs on average, casual players will burn their entire event allowance and walk away with the lower-rarity carnival pets while never touching the elephant.
