About NPCs

NPCs (Non-Player Characters) are characters that can be found all throughout Grow A Garden, usually at various stands such as regular shops and event shops. Each one has a birthday as of 9/6/2025.

NPCs — In-Depth Analysis

NPCs (Non-Player Characters) are the human-facing backbone of Grow a Garden's economy. They split into two clear groups: permanent Merchant NPCs who run the core shops, and rotating Event NPCs who only appear while a seasonal event is live. Knowing which is which tells you what you can rely on year-round versus what you must grind before a deadline.

The merchant roster maps directly onto the gameplay loop. Sam and Tom sell seeds, Raphael sells eggs (and buys your pets), Eloise sells gear, Steven buys your crops and pets for Sheckles, Isaac sells cosmetics and hosts the crafting feature, and Orson the Coin Keeper runs the Ascension/rebirth shop. Together they cover the full cycle of buy seeds, grow, sell, reinvest, and eventually ascend — so learning each one's function is essentially learning the game's progression flow.

A neat detail is that every NPC was given a birthday as of 9/6/2025, a flavor touch that hints the developers treat them as a persistent cast. Optimally, treat merchants as your fixed infrastructure and prioritize event NPCs aggressively, since their shops and conversion tasks vanish when the event ends.
