Steal an Egg is a Roblox game about taking eggs from monster nests and hatching them into pets that earn cash. That cash buys gear that makes you faster, and Speed is what opens the next biome. This guide walks through that loop with the real numbers for the first biomes, so you know which eggs to grab and what to buy first.

How Steal an Egg works
The whole game repeats one loop:
- 1Steal an egg from a nest in a biome.
- 2Outrun the guardian, the monster that sleeps next to the nests.
- 3Bring the egg to your pen and wait for it to grow.
- 4Collect the income the pet makes every second, plus the hatch reward of Speed and cash.
- 5Buy treadmills and trails to raise your Speed.
- 6Reach the Speed requirement of the next biome and repeat with better eggs.
Most biomes have eight eggs, from Common up to rarities like Cosmic, Secret, Eternal and Divine. Each pet has a fixed base income per second ($/s), which mutations and size can raise. Our biomes page lists every zone with its Speed requirement.
Your first steps
Claim the free 10,000 Speed
Before stealing anything, grab the free gift. The wiki's Speed page lists three steps: like the game, favorite it and join its community. Do all three and you get 10,000 Speed. That alone is more than the 900 Speed that Lake needs, and it reaches the 10K that Desert asks for.
Steal your first Forest egg
Forest has no Speed requirement, and its guardian is a Chicken. These are its eight eggs with the data from the wiki:
| Pet | Rarity | Base $/s | Grow time | Hatch reward |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Chicken | Common | $1 | 10s | +420 Speed, $100 |
| Dog | Common | $2 | 15s | +460 Speed, $200 |
| Bird | Uncommon | $8 | 25s | +500 Speed, $800 |
| Burrowing Owl | Rare | $35 | 40s | +560 Speed, $3.5k |
| Raccoon | Rare | $45 | 50s | +620 Speed, $4.5k |
| Fox | Epic | $180 | 1m 30s | +720 Speed, $18k |
| Bear | Epic | $240 | 2m | +820 Speed, $24k |
| Brr Brr Patapim | Legendary | $1.8K | 5m | +1k Speed, $180k |

Two patterns are worth knowing. Each egg's cash reward equals 100 seconds of that pet's income, so a Fox egg pays $18k the moment it hatches. And the fast eggs are great for Speed: a Chicken gives +420 Speed after only 10 seconds.

Hatch it in your pen
Carry the egg back to your pen and it starts growing for the time shown above. When it hatches you get the reward and a pet that keeps earning. The pen has limited room: Update 4 added a base upgrade that lets you hold 1 more pet. The wiki's pen page only lists the prices of levels 11 (500T) and 12 (5Qa), so the early pen prices aren't documented yet.

Move on to Lake
Lake needs 900 Speed and is guarded by a Swan. The hatch rewards jump straight away: even the cheapest egg gives +2k Speed.
| Pet | Rarity | Base $/s | Grow time | Hatch reward |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Frog | Common | $3 | 15s | +2k Speed, $300 |
| Duckling | Common | $4 | 20s | +2.2k Speed, $400 |
| Catfish | Uncommon | $12 | 30s | +2.5k Speed, $1.2k |
| Turtle | Rare | $60 | 50s | +2.7k Speed, $6k |
| Trulimero Trulicina | Epic | $260 | 1m 30s | +3k Speed, $26k |
| Swan | Epic | $320 | 2m | +3.5k Speed, $32k |
| Axolotl | Legendary | $2.8K | 5m | +4k Speed, $280k |
| Leviathan | Cosmic | $220K | 25m | +5k Speed, $22m |

A Frog gives +2k Speed in 15 seconds, more than any Forest egg. The Leviathan is the big prize: $220K/s, almost 80 times what the Axolotl makes. It also has a base weight of 5,000 kg against 3 kg for the Frog, and heavy eggs slow you down while you carry them.

Eggs, nests and guardians
5-minute resets
Nests reset every 5 minutes. If another player took the egg you wanted, wait for the reset instead of walking away. Each biome has its own eggs, and limited eggs like the Brainrot Egg never spawn in nests. More on our eggs and guardians page.
Bigger eggs pay more but slow you down
Eggs come in different sizes next to their parents. The bigger the egg, the higher the value of the pet inside. The catch, in the wiki's words, is that it will be heavier and you will be slower, which matters when a guardian is chasing you.
Egg colors don't change income
The wiki says egg colors only change how the egg and the pet look, not what they earn. Judge an egg by its shape and size, not its color. Mutations such as Golden are a separate roll when the pet hatches.
Bear traps
Bear traps are your tool against other players. The rules from the wiki's bear trap page:
- You can only use them while holding an egg.
- You can have up to 3 on the map at once, and the supply is infinite.
- Anyone who steps in one is stuck for 7 seconds.
- You get the trap back when something steps in it, or you can pick it up yourself.
- They can't be placed in the safe zone.
What to spend cash on first
Speed comes from three places: hatch rewards, treadmills and trails. These are the cheapest upgrades from the wiki's lists:
| Upgrade | Price | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Treadmill (base) | Free | +2 Speed per step |
| Grey Trail | $100 | 1.5× multiplier |
| Green Trail | $5k | 2× multiplier |
| Sci-Fi Treadmill | $15K | +5 Speed per step |
| Blue Trail | $75k | 2.5× multiplier |
| Flame Treadmill | $250K | +12 Speed per step |
| Purple Trail | $1.5M | 3× multiplier |
| Celebrity Treadmill | $5M | +30 Speed per step |
Treadmills
Running on a treadmill gives Speed with every step, and better treadmills give more per step. The free one gives +2. The Sci-Fi Treadmill gives +5 for $15K, which a single Fox egg reward ($18k) covers. The full list is on our treadmills page.

Trails
Trails are multipliers. The Grey Trail (1.5×) costs only $100, and the Green Trail doubles you for $5k. Compare all of them on our trails page.

Pens
Your pen is where eggs grow, so more room means more income at once. Keep the Update 4 base upgrade (+1 pet) in mind as your income grows.
Robux: optional
Everything above is bought with in-game cash. The shop also sells Robux items: X2 MONEY! for 399 Robux, X2 Growth Speed! (eggs grow twice as fast) for 467 Robux, and Speed multipliers from x2 for 3 Robux up to x4K for 1,375 Robux. None of them are needed to progress.

The early biome route
This is the order you unlock biomes in, with the Speed each one needs and the pet with the highest base income in it:
| Biome | Speed needed | Guardian | Highest-income pet | Grow time |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Forest | None | Chicken | Brr Brr Patapim, $1.8K/s | 5m |
| Lake | 900 | Swan | Leviathan, $220K/s | 25m |
| Desert | 10K | Scorpion | Royal Sphinx, $280K/s | 30m |
| Jungle | 40K | Tiger | King Snake, $3.5M/s | 1h 30m |
| Snow | 170K | Yeti | Ice Dragon, $65M/s | 4h |
| Volcano | 700K | Cerberus | Lava Dragon, $100M/s | 5h |
Hatch rewards grow with every biome. The first Desert egg (Jerboa) already gives +7.2k Speed, Snow's Penguin gives +12.8k and Volcano's Lava Gecko +24k. Hatching the cheap eggs of each new biome is a steady way to build Speed toward the next one.
Mutations and sizes in one minute
A mutation multiplies a pet's income. Three of them come from normal hatching, with roll weights from the wiki:
- Silver: 1.2×, roll weight 6 out of 100.
- Golden: 2.5×, roll weight 4 out of 100.
- Rainbow: 3.5×, roll weight 1 out of 100.
Others come from events: Fractured (2.75×) from the Rift Boss Shop's Mutation Shard, Scrambled (2.75×) from Dr. Scramble's shop, and Bloom (1.25×) and Spirit Bloom (2.5×) from the Sakura Incubator. Full list on our mutations page.

Size stacks on top. The wiki's own examples: a $100/s pet that is Golden and Giant makes $750/s (7.5×), and Rainbow and Huge makes $1,750/s (17.5×). By the formula the wiki documents, an egg 100 times the base weight is worth about 17 times the base value, with smaller gains after that.
Events and the latest updates
Events every 30 minutes
Several events repeat every 30 minutes, and all of them pay something useful:
- Rift: defeat the Overlord for Boss Tokens to spend on boosts.
- Dr. Scramble: he returns in his Mecha; defeat him for Samples and Boss Milestone tiers.
- Nitro Race: race other players for Trophies, spent on boosters and Nitro Mutation consumables.
- Great Bloom: break Sakura Crystal Trees in Cherry Blossom, a biome that needs 2.5B Speed.
The full calendar of what's running is on our events page.
Update 7: Enchanted Forest
Update 7 (October 3–4, 2026) added the Enchanted Forest, the farthest biome so far, with 8 new pets and a 50B Speed requirement. With 50B Speed you can find the Wisp, help him return to the Enchanted Tree and unlock it. Inside, the Butterfly Bloom event trades butterflies for the Enchanted Mutation consumable, which works 100% of the time.

Update 8: Mounts
Update 8 (October 10, 2026) lets you ride your pets. On some nights a rare Shooting Star falls and every eligible player in the server gets one, but only if they were in the server since the start of that in-game day. Stellaris the Star Handler also sells up to 5 Shooting Stars per week, with the limit resetting every Saturday. Use a star on a pet to turn it into a mount.

FAQ
How do you play Steal an Egg?
Steal eggs from biome nests, avoid the guardian and hatch them in your pen. Pets earn cash every second, cash buys treadmills and trails, and more Speed opens the next biome.
What should I buy first in Steal an Egg?
Start with the cheapest Speed upgrades: the Grey Trail ($100), the Green Trail ($5k) and the Sci-Fi Treadmill ($15K). Before that, claim the free 10,000 Speed by liking, favoriting and joining the community.
How often do eggs reset?
Nests reset every 5 minutes, according to the wiki. Limited eggs like the Brainrot Egg never spawn in nests.
Does egg color matter?
No. The wiki says egg colors only change how the egg and pet look, not their income. Size and mutations are what change the value.
How do bear traps work?
While holding an egg you can place up to 3 bear traps outside the safe zone. Anyone who steps in one is stuck for 7 seconds, and the trap returns to you.
