Forest guide

Every run in Steal an Egg starts in Forest, the only biome with no Speed requirement at all. Its eight nests cover five rarities, from the Chicken at $1/s, the lowest income of all 198 pets the wiki lists, up to a single Legendary. The Chicken also doubles as the biome's guardian, so the first creature you dodge is the weakest earner in the game.

What the eight Forest eggs pay

  • Commons: Chicken ($1/s, 10s egg) and Dog ($2/s, 15s).
  • Uncommon and Rares: Bird ($8/s), Burrowing Owl ($35/s) and Raccoon ($45/s).
  • Epics: Fox ($180/s, 1m 30s) and Bear ($240/s, 2m).
  • Legendary: Brr Brr Patapim at $1.8K/s with a 5-minute egg, third of the 21 Legendaries by income.

The Chicken egg is the fastest in the biome at 10 seconds, while Brr Brr Patapim earns 7.5 times what the Bear does. One pattern worth noticing: each egg's cash reward equals 100 seconds of the pet's own income ($100 for the Chicken, $24k for the Bear, $180k for Patapim).

Getting the 900 Speed for Lake

Lake asks for 900 Speed. Counting egg rewards only, Forest pays from +420 (Chicken) to +1k (Brr Brr Patapim), so the maths is short:

  • One Brr Brr Patapim egg (+1k) clears it on its own, but it takes 5 minutes to grow.
  • Two Dog eggs (+460 each, 15s) add up to 920 after 30 seconds of growth.
  • A Chicken plus a Bird (+420 and +500) also lands on 920.

Per second of growth the Chicken is the most efficient Forest egg, at about 42 Speed per second against 3.3 for Patapim. The wiki's Speed page also lists a free gift of 10,000 Speed for liking the game, favoriting it and joining its community, which on its own is more than Lake needs.

Spending the first cash

Movement speed also comes from treadmills and trails, not just eggs. The Sci-Fi Treadmill (+5 Speed per step) costs $15K and the Green Trail (2×) $5k, both within reach after a few Raccoon or Fox rewards ($4.5k and $18k). Those purchases look small here, but they matter later, when the gap between biomes stops being covered by egg rewards.
