Abandoned Pillars — In-Depth Analysis
The Abandoned Pillars is a structure in the Forest Biome of 99 Nights in the Forest, classed as an area on the wiki. It looks like a set of pillar-like ruins: roughly five or six large, weathered stone pillars, with one of them toppled over. A chest sits next to one of the pillars, so the spot is worth checking whenever you find it.
The loot is split into four groups. Fuel covers Coal, Fuel Canister and Oil Barrel. Scrap covers Bolt, Sheet Metal, Broken Fan, Old Radio, Broken Microwave, Tyre, Old Car Engine and Washing Machine. The special group is the interesting one: the chest can be a Common, Good (Uncommon), Iron, Legendary, Corrupt, Gold or Ruby chest, and the same group can also hold Cake, a Rifle, Revolver Ammo and Rifle Ammo. Finally, the structure can give Mossy Coins as currency.
Because the chest has such a wide range of possible tiers, the result varies a lot from one run to the next. If you are short on fuel or scrap for the campfire and crafting, the pillars are a reasonable stop, and if you are hoping for a weapon, the Rifle and the higher chest tiers are the entries to look for. The wiki lists the structure as uncommon.
