Water Kung-fu Teacher — Underwater City
Costs & Requirements
Description
Water Kung Fu is a Melee fighting style unlocked by visiting the Water Kung-fu Teacher in the Underwater City, a mid-game hub reached during the Second Sea. Like all fighting styles, it scales with your Melee stat and does not require a Devil Fruit — you equip it alongside any build and gain mastery by landing its four skills. The style's moveset centers on fluid, water-infused strikes: Aqua Flurry delivers rapid close-range hits, Steam-Charged Fist channels pressurized energy into a concentrated blow, Deadly Shower rains down a barrage of water attacks, and Heavy Water Punch lands a weighty finishing strike. Together they give the style a mix of sustained pressure and burst potential. Water Kung Fu is a solid stepping stone in the mid-game before players transition to higher-tier options like Godhuman or Sanguine Art, which dominate competitive PvP and endgame grinding.

Water Kung Fu — In-Depth Analysis
## What Is Water Kung Fu?
Water Kung Fu is a First Sea fighting style with longevity — available across all three seas and purchased from the Water Kung-fu Teacher at Underwater City for 750,000 Beli. Introduced in Update 5, it's the first water-elemental style players encounter, built around fluid, flowing strikes that carry actual water-type damage properties. It also serves as the mandatory prerequisite for Sharkman Karate, one of the game's top-tier PvP styles, giving it long-term significance beyond its own combat ceiling.
## Role and Progression Value
Water Kung Fu sits above Electric in purchase price but brings genuine elemental identity — the water damage type provides utility against specific enemy types across all seas. For players who know they want to reach Sharkman Karate, every mastery level on Water Kung Fu is direct progress toward that goal. It's a reasonable main style through late First Sea and even early Second Sea content, competitive enough to carry you without feeling like dead weight.
- Strengths: Water elemental damage; available across all seas; clear upgrade path to Sharkman Karate; no fragment cost - Weaknesses: Beli cost is moderate (750,000); outclassed by Second Sea premium styles; not a top PvP pick in its own right
Tip: Since Water Kung Fu is the prerequisite for Sharkman Karate (which itself requires 400 mastery), commit to maxing Water Kung Fu mastery as you travel through the Second Sea — the earlier you hit that threshold, the sooner you can invest in Sharkman Karate's 5,000 fragment unlock.
