Lookman

Lookman only hurts you if you look at its eyes. It is a tall, lanky silhouette with glowing white eyes that turn purple when you stare at them, and it appears in The Backdoor and during the Trick Or Treat event. It was added on March 15, 2024. Its design and name come from an older beta version of Eyes, and it behaves a lot like Eyes, with one difference: it hits once, then teleports.

The encounter

It can spawn in most rooms and makes a low rumbling noise that is quite quiet. If you meet its gaze, you take 20 damage, your vision briefly darkens and it slides to a random spot in the room with a thump while the lights flicker. It despawns when the next door is opened.

Using it to your advantage

It is tall, so looking down slightly avoids eye contact, and like Eyes it cannot hurt you while you are hiding. It tends to spawn next to the exit door, so in rooms with several possible exits, such as the Maintenance Hallway rooms, the rumbling helps you pick the way out. That is especially useful in dark rooms, although the clue is lost once it teleports away. Its crucifix badge is a reference to Dora the Explorer. Dying to it when it was spawned by Candy in the Trick Or Treat modifier shows no death message.
