Timothy

Timothy is a 7 cm spider, and the damage it does is the smallest number in the entity list: 5. It sits inside drawers and loot chests in The Hotel and The Mines, and with a 1 in 200 chance each time you open a container, many players finish a run without ever meeting it.

The jumpscare

Open a container with Timothy inside and it jumps at your screen, hurts you for 5 and falls away. If you were at 5 health or less it leaves you with between 1 and 4, so it cannot kill you in a normal game. It was the first harmful entity that cannot kill the player, followed by Snare and then Sally. If you turn away after finding it, the jump can land behind your back, and for a few seconds it can stop you from entering a closet or locker.

Dealing with it

A Crucifix swats it away without being used up, since it only smashes Timothy onto the floor. The Bug Spray modifier stops it from spawning at all. The Itchy modifier does the opposite: its chance rises to 1 in 100, the damage goes to 10 and Timothy turns lethal, with the death screen reading "Died to Timothy". The name is not a reference to anything; developers have said it was a joke made up when its achievement was added. There is also a web in the Lobby where Timothy lives.
