Cheese

Cheese is the one food in The Mines that exists only because of Louie. There is no shop price and no container drop: you either trade an item to Louie or use a Crucifix on him, and the cheese may come out. It was introduced on December 20, 2024 and first shown in The Content Update trailer.

It is a triangular wedge with holes and small bumps, the cartoon idea of cheese. Using it replenishes 45 HP immediately, you can carry several at a time, and each is a single use. The wiki lists the downside bluntly: apart from healing, it does nothing else.

Against Bread

It behaves exactly like Bread, with the same healing and the same crunchy eating sound. The only differences are the model and that Bread can be given to the Caws in The Outdoors, while Cheese cannot be fed to them and does not appear there.

What Louie asks

Louie hands out Cheese with a 50% chance when you give him a Glowstick, a Candle, a Lighter or a Tip Jar, and with a 33.33% chance when you use a Crucifix on him. Fans have guessed it is Gouda, but the wiki leans toward plain generic cheese, with the crunch borrowed from another food.
