Where to get Moonlight Candle
- Transmuting a Candle in a Rift
Moonlight Candle guide
Fuel is not a concern with the Moonlight Candle: its durability is infinite, which is why it is worth the Rift trip. Before The Great Outdoors Update it lasted only 1 minute 15 seconds. You obtain it by transmuting a normal Candle inside a Rift, which also grants the "Lost In Translation" achievement. Candles placed in a rift before The Mines Update did not convert afterwards.
It gives a big blue light, and unlike a Candle it is already lit when equipped. The game files also call it the Rift Candle and the Possessed Candle.
Entity warning
When a hostile entity appears, the flame goes out and stays out until every hostile entity is gone, then relights by itself. The wiki lists the entities it detects: Rush, Ambush, Seek, Screech and Sally, plus A-60 and A-120 with Room for More, and Blitz with Blitz, Oh.
Where it fails
- It is powered by Guiding Light, so in subfloors it turns gray and reads "This feels colder than normal...".
- Water or the wet status puts it out.
- It attracts Gloombats, and gives no light while an entity is near.
It is safe in Firedamp and does not alert Figure. Louie may drop Shears, a Bulklight or a Gween Soda for it.
