Nocturnal Rod review
Vertigo is where you buy the Nocturnal Rod, for C$11,000, and the passive is the reason to care. The wiki says it wakes fish up just by throwing the bobber in, and that it can catch both nocturnal and diurnal fish at any time. In plain terms, the day and night restrictions on fish stop mattering while you use it.
That is a strong utility, because it means you can chase a fish that normally needs a specific time of day without waiting for it. The stats, however, are poor. Luck of 70 ranks 138th of 184 obtainable rods, Lure Speed of 50 is 127th, Control of 0 is 141st of 185, and Resilience of 0 is 161st of 184. So you pay for flexibility with slower, weaker fishing.
Its weight cap of 10,000 kg is 61st of 117 rods that list one, which is respectable and handles fairly large fish.
In cost terms, Friendly Rod (luck 105, C$0), Lucky Rod (luck 177, C$4,500) and Long Rod (luck 80, C$3,000) all carry more Luck for less money. Aurora Rod is the only other rod sold in Vertigo.
Verdict: treat the Nocturnal Rod as a specialist tool. Bring it out when you need a time-locked fish, and switch back to something stronger for everything else.
