The Crab is a common pet released in the Summer Update, hatched from the Common Summer Egg, and despite its low rarity it fills a genuinely useful niche in the farm economy thanks to its passive income trait. With 3,000 Hunger, it sits comfortably in the mid-range for feeding upkeep, so it can stay active for long stretches without constant attention.

Its trait, Pinch Pocket, periodically sends the Crab to another player to pinch them and grant you Sheckles — crucially, the pinched player loses nothing, so it is pure additive income that scales with how many players share your server. Two details make it stronger than it looks: the Crab can pinch from below even when targets are high up on plants or cosmetics, and it has no apparent run-time limit, meaning the ability keeps firing as long as the pet is out and fed.

Because of this, the Crab is one of the few pets that interacts directly with players, alongside the Raccoon, Kitsune, and Goblin. The optimal use is to keep it active on busy public servers where there are many pinch targets, pairing it with higher-value crops so its steady Sheckle drip supplements rather than replaces your main harvest income.
