Once you can reach Cherry Blossom, the Kitsune is the better use of that slot than the Unicorn: same wait, $1.8B/s instead of $1B/s, and a larger reward (+6.5m Speed and $180b against +2.4m and $100b).
The $180b payout pays for the Lucky Block Treadmill (75B) twice over. The next zone, Titan Temple, requires 7B Speed, so treadmills remain the main way to cover that distance.
