Lava Dragon guide
Top of the Volcano
The wiki describes the Lava Dragon as an Eternal-rarity pet with a reddish-maroon colour and wings. It is the highest earner in the Volcano at $100M/s, ranking 22nd of 24 Eternals and 69th of 198 overall.
Lava Dragon Egg
- Grow time: 5 hours
- Reward: +60k Speed and $10b
- Base weight: 14,000 kg
Five hours is 60 of the 5-minute nest resets the wiki describes, the longest egg among the first six biomes. Its +60k Speed is also the biggest hatch reward in the Volcano, though at roughly 2.4% of the 2.5M needed for Abyss Ocean it will not carry you there by itself.
Lava Dragon versus Phoenix
- Phoenix: $85M/s, 4:30 egg, +48k Speed, 2,500 kg base
- Lava Dragon: $100M/s, 5-hour egg, +60k Speed, 14,000 kg base
The Lava Dragon earns about 18% more for 30 extra minutes. The catch is weight: with a base more than five times the Phoenix's, the Lava Dragon's size multipliers are measured against a far heavier starting point. The wiki also notes that larger eggs are heavier and slow you while you carry them, worth remembering with an egg like this near Cerberus, the Volcano's guardian.
The next Eternal in the progression is the Abyss Ocean's El Maja at $130M/s.
Mutation and size estimates
Using the formula the wiki documents:
- Golden: about $250M/s
- Rainbow: about $350M/s
- 10 times base weight: about $414M/s
- 100 times base weight: about $1.71B/s
- 200 times base weight: about $2.37B/s
- Rainbow at 100 times base weight: about $5.99B/s
A Golden Lava Dragon would earn more than any plain pet in the first seven biomes, which makes a mutated one a long-term pen centrepiece. It does not appear in any Rift sacrifice tier.
