The wiki calls Luminous Cthulhu one of the rarest pets in the game, and the way it is obtained explains why.
Two rolls stacked
Luminous Cthulhu only exists as a re-roll of a Luminous Egg hatch. According to the wiki's notes on this pet:
- The Luminous Egg has six base pets and six matching Luminous forms.
- Each hatch has a 1% chance of turning the pet you received into its Luminous variant.
- There is no separate slot for Luminous Cthulhu. You need the hatch to give Cthulhu and then the 1% to trigger.
The wiki does not publish how often Cthulhu itself comes out of the egg, so the combined odds are unknown, but they are necessarily below 1% per hatch. The Luminous Egg took the Monster Egg's place in Update 4.

Base Cthulhu earns $3B/s. The Luminous form earns $6.5B/s, about 2.2×, and stays Divine. That is the top of the six Luminous forms, ahead of Luminous Terra Snapper ($2.5B/s) and Luminous Electric Eel ($1.75B/s).

The wiki lists a base weight of 13,000 kg. With its documented formula, a Golden Luminous Cthulhu would earn about $16.2B/s and a Rainbow about $22.8B/s.
