Speed decides which biome you can raid in Steal an Egg. Every guardian chases you when you grab an egg, and the wiki ties each biome to a Speed number you need to outrun it. This guide puts every way to raise Speed in one place: the free gift, treadmills, trails, egg rewards, Robux multipliers and event boosts.
All numbers come from the wiki's tables. The wiki doesn't record how many steps you take per second on a treadmill, so we can't turn Speed into minutes of play. What we can show is how much each upgrade gives and what it costs.

Speed needed for every biome
There are 13 biomes, and the Speed requirement climbs fast. Full details for each one are on our biomes page.
| # | Biome | Speed needed | Jump from previous | Guardian |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Forest | 0 | โ | Chicken |
| 2 | Lake | 900 | โ | Swan |
| 3 | Desert | 10K | ร11.1 | Scorpion |
| 4 | Jungle | 40K | ร4.0 | Tiger |
| 5 | Snow | 170K | ร4.2 | Yeti |
| 6 | Volcano | 700K | ร4.1 | Cerberus |
| 7 | Abyss Ocean | 2.5M | ร3.6 | Moby |
| 8 | Prehistoric | 18M | ร7.2 | T-Rex |
| 9 | Cosmic | 700M | ร38.9 | Cosmic Skeleton |
| 10 | Cherry Blossom | 2.5B | ร3.6 | Oni Tiger |
| 11 | Titan Temple | 7B | ร2.8 | Gorilla King |
| 12 | Angels & Demons | 20B | ร2.9 | ArchAngel, World Burner, Aetheron |
| 13 | Enchanted Forest | 50B | ร2.5 | not listed |
The biggest wall is [Cosmic](/games/steal-an-egg/biomes/cosmic): going from Prehistoric (18M) to Cosmic (700M) asks for almost 39 times more Speed. Every other step is roughly 2.5 to 11 times.

Free Speed: the 10,000 Speed gift
The wiki's Speed page lists a free gift for supporting the game. Do all three steps to get it:
- 1Like the game.
- 2Favorite the game.
- 3Join the game's community.
The reward for finishing all three is 10,000 Speed. That's more than the 900 Lake asks for, and on paper it matches the 10K needed for Desert.
Treadmills: Speed per step and price
Running on a treadmill is the main way to gain Speed. You buy treadmills with in-game cash, and each one adds a fixed amount of Speed per step. Our treadmills page has the same list with images.
| Treadmill | Rarity | Speed per step | Price | Cost per extra Speed/step |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Treadmill (base) | Common | +2 | Free | โ |
| Sci-Fi Treadmill | Uncommon | +5 | $15K | $5K |
| Flame Treadmill | Rare | +12 | $250K | $35.7K |
| Celebrity Treadmill | Epic | +30 | $5M | $278K |
| Golden Treadmill | Legendary | +80 | $120M | $2.4M |
| The Freeze Treadmill | Mythic | +100 | $3B | $150M |
| Lucky Block Treadmill | Cosmic | +200 | $75B | $750M |
| Hacker Treadmill | Secret | +500 | $3T | $10B |
| Demonic Treadmill | Eternal | +1,000 | $50T | $100B |
| Angelic Treadmill | Divine | +2,000 | $1Qa | $1T |
| Astral Treadmill | Titan | +3,000 | $15Qa | $15T |
The last column divides each price by the Speed per step it adds over the previous treadmill. It shows how quickly upgrades get expensive: the Sci-Fi Treadmill costs $5K per extra Speed per step, while the Astral Treadmill costs $15T for each one.

How do you get a treadmill? You start with the base treadmill for free (+2 Speed per step). Every other one is bought with cash, so your pets' income decides how fast you can move up the list.
Trails: the treadmill multiplier
According to the wiki, a trail multiplies the Speed you gain while running on a treadmill. There are 11, from Grey (ร1.5) to Moonbloom (ร20). Full list on our trails page.
| Trail | Rarity | Treadmill multiplier | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Grey Trail | Common | ร1.5 | $100 |
| Green Trail | Uncommon | ร2 | $5K |
| Blue Trail | Rare | ร2.5 | $75K |
| Purple Trail | Epic | ร3 | $1.5M |
| Golden Trail | Legendary | ร3.5 | $30M |
| Red Trail | Mythic | ร4 | $750M |
| Galaxy Trail | Cosmic | ร5 | $20B |
| Secret Trail | Secret | ร7 | $500B |
| Eternal Trail | Eternal | ร10 | $12.5T |
| Divine Trail | Divine | ร14 | $300T |
| Moonbloom Trail | Divine | ร20 | $5Qa |

Treadmill ร trail: Speed per step at each combo
If the trail multiplies the treadmill's Speed per step, pairing a treadmill with the trail of the same rarity gives these numbers. It's simple multiplication, so treat it as an estimate.
| Treadmill | Trail of the same rarity | Math | Speed per step (estimate) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sci-Fi Treadmill | Green Trail | +5 ร 2 | +10 |
| Flame Treadmill | Blue Trail | +12 ร 2.5 | +30 |
| Celebrity Treadmill | Purple Trail | +30 ร 3 | +90 |
| Golden Treadmill | Golden Trail | +80 ร 3.5 | +280 |
| The Freeze Treadmill | Red Trail | +100 ร 4 | +400 |
| Lucky Block Treadmill | Galaxy Trail | +200 ร 5 | +1,000 |
| Hacker Treadmill | Secret Trail | +500 ร 7 | +3,500 |
| Demonic Treadmill | Eternal Trail | +1,000 ร 10 | +10,000 |
| Angelic Treadmill | Divine Trail | +2,000 ร 14 | +28,000 |
| Astral Treadmill | Moonbloom Trail | +3,000 ร 20 | +60,000 |

Trails are cheap early on. The Green Trail costs $5K and doubles your treadmill, while the Sci-Fi Treadmill costs $15K and adds +3 per step over the base. In the first biomes, a trail is usually the better buy per dollar.
Eggs that give the most Speed
Many eggs pay Speed and cash when they hatch. The table divides each egg's Speed reward by its grow time, to find which one gives the most Speed per second of waiting in each biome.
| Biome | Most efficient egg | Speed reward | Grow time | Speed per second of growing | Biggest single reward |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Forest | Chicken | +420 | 10s | 42 | Brr Brr Patapim (+1K, 5m) |
| Lake | Frog | +2K | 15s | 133 | Leviathan (+5K, 25m) |
| Desert | Jerboa | +7.2K | 20s | 360 | Royal Sphinx (+18K, 30m) |
| Jungle | Chimpanzee | +7.2K | 30s | 240 | King Snake (+18K, 1h 30m) |
| Snow | Penguin | +12.8K | 45s | 284 | Ice Dragon (+32K, 4h) |
| Volcano | Lava Gecko | +24K | 1m | 400 | Lava Dragon (+60K, 5h) |
| Abyss Ocean | Parrotfish | +72K | 1m 15s | 960 | El Maja (+180K, 5h 30m) |
| Prehistoric | Dodo | +240K | 1m 30s | 2,667 | Mosasaurus (+600K, 6h) |
| Cosmic | Centapede | +960K | 2m | 8,000 | Unicorn (+2.4M, 12h) |
| Cherry Blossom | Crane | +2.7M | 3m | 15,000 | Kitsune (+6.5M, 12h) |
| Titan Temple | Spideron | +2.7M | 4m | 11,250 | Nightflame (+6.8M, 16h) |
| Angels & Demons | Pegasus | +200M | 5h | 11,111 | Pegasus (+200M, 5h) |
A clear pattern shows up: the cheapest, fastest eggs give the most Speed per second, while the rare eggs give the biggest single rewards. Crane in Cherry Blossom tops the list at 15,000 Speed per second of growing.

The biggest single rewards in the game are Pegasus and Skeleton Horse in Angels & Demons: +200M Speed each, after 5 hours. See the Pegasus page for its income and fusion.

Keep egg rewards in proportion, though. 200M is about 1% of the 20B Angels & Demons asks for, so late in the game eggs are a bonus, not the main source of Speed.

Robux Speed multipliers
The shop sells Speed multipliers from x2 to x4K. The last column shows how much multiplier you get for each Robux.
| Speed multiplier | Robux | Multiplier per Robux |
|---|---|---|
| x2 | 3 | 0.67 |
| x4 | 9 | 0.44 |
| x8 | 24 | 0.33 |
| x16 | 39 | 0.41 |
| x32 | 79 | 0.41 |
| x64 | 129 | 0.50 |
| x128 | 199 | 0.64 |
| x256 | 299 | 0.86 |
| x512 | 499 | 1.03 |
| x1K | 649 | 1.54 |
| x2K | 949 | 2.11 |
| x4K | 1,375 | 2.91 |
The big ones are the best value per Robux: x4K gives about 2.9 per Robux, while x2 gives about 0.67. The wiki doesn't say how these multipliers combine with each other or with trails, so check the in-game description before buying.
Event boosts: Rift Boss Shop and Nitro Race
Two timed events hand out temporary Speed help.
- Rift Event: a Rift opens every 30 minutes. Beat the Overlord inside to earn Boss Tokens, and spend them in the Boss Shop on temporary Speed multipliers and Treadmill boosters, among other things. More on the Rift Event page.
- Nitro Race (Update 8): a race starts every 30 minutes and pays Trophies. Trophies buy boosters, Nitro Mutation consumables and an exclusive rare bat. See the update log for the full notes.
