Coin Purse guide
Coin Purse is the smallest purse in the game: 200 Ichor and nothing else, in exchange for 30 extra Tapes at the start of a run. Tapes are the in-round currency, spent in Dandy's Shop in the elevator when the next floor is even, and on some Toon abilities. For scale, 30 Tapes covers one Pop (25 Tapes in the shop) with 5 to spare, or about a third of a Bottle o' Pop (85). It is a one-time grant, so it matters on floor 2 and then fades.
The wiki calls it a cheaper and worse version of Fancy Purse, and the numbers back that up: Fancy Purse gives 100 Tapes and Coin Purse gives 30. Its niche is the early game, before you have the Research for anything better. A new account that cannot yet reach Thinking Cap or Speedometer can still pick up this Trinket on its first day, and it costs the same 200 Ichor as Research Map.
If your Toon spends Tapes on a healing active, such as Teagan's Tea Time at 75 Tapes or Sprout's Baked Sweets at 100, the 30 extra Tapes work as a starter fund toward that first cast. It is on sale now.
