Fancy Purse

Fancy Purse gives you 100 extra Tapes at the start of a run, and the Research for it sits on Twisted Teagan, an Uncommon (25 of 110 spawn weight at the start). It debuted on July 12, 2024, in the same batch as Diary, Feather Duster, Participation Award, Pop Pack and Pull Toy. It has no Ichor price, but it takes real Research time to unlock, unlike the 200-Ichor Coin Purse that gives only 30.

A hundred Tapes is a meaningful opening balance for the Toons that pay for abilities. Teagan's Tea Time costs 75 Tapes for a heart, so the purse pays for one cast immediately and leaves 25, enough for a Pop. Sprout's Baked Sweets costs 100, which makes the purse exactly one heal. The wiki also points out that it helps Ginger and that it can speed up quest requirements that demand spending Tapes.

The catch is the same one the wiki raises: it fires once per run, so its value is highest in the first floors and zero afterward. If your team already finds Tapes quickly, it can feel wasted. A simple way to judge it is to ask whether your Toon would otherwise have to wait for floor 2's shop before doing something important. It is available now.
