Gem Salmon guide

Gem Salmon is another Common catch on Treasure Island, this one tied to Flakes as bait. It weighs 3 kg to 27.5 kg, averaging 7 kg, and at C$100 per kg a typical fish sells for C$700. That is 359th of the 742 documented fish by average value, and 367th of 663 by maximum weight.

The XP side is better than the price suggests: base XP is 975. No time, weather or season is listed, so you can fish for it whenever you are on the island.

The same zone holds Bluegem Angelfish, Coin Triggerfish, Crowned Royal Gramma, Emerald Angelfish and Gem Anchovy at the same Common rarity, and the Treasure Rod is sold there. Among those five neighbors, Gem Salmon is the one you can reach by switching to Flakes, so it is a bait decision more than a rod one.

Verdict: a fine pick if you already carry Flakes. If you do not, there is no reason to change bait just for it, because the C$700 average will not transform your income. Treat it as steady filler that happens to give decent XP.
