Boreal Rod

Boreal Rod is sold in Boreal Pines for C$42,000, in the same shop as Cryolash. The in-game text calls it a frostbitten rod carved from northern pines that leaves catches with a quiet, creeping cold. There is no passive in the data, so the value is in the numbers.

Those numbers are plain. Luck is 50 (157th of 184 obtainable rods), Lure Speed 60 (112th), Control 0.05 (112th of 185) and Resilience 25 (62nd). The maximum weight of 14,000 kg ranks 58th of 117, a decent ceiling for mid-sized fish. Overall it is a below-average finder with an average pace.

The price is where it stumbles. Avalanche Rod gives Luck 68 for C$35,000, Brick Rod gives Luck 75 for C$13,337 and Coral Rod gives Luck 74 for C$30,000. All three beat it on Luck and cost less, so paying C$42,000 for Luck 50 is an expensive choice.

Buy it only if you want the winter look and are already fishing Boreal Pines. If you are choosing for performance, take Coral Rod or Brick Rod instead, and look at Cryolash in the same shop before committing your C$.
